Thanks will get it lightly ported and probably look at uprated valves as already have cams and bodies , doing around 180 atw justnow.
Have read about the belt tension problem if too much is taken off but also a few people using a bigger idler pulley to sort it.
At what sort of level does a phase 1 head become restrictive ? I've just bought one to use as part of a winter upgrade but will it be worth getting it ported before fitting.
I have also read on here about skimming the head for upping the comp ratio a little, bit of a cheap skate way of doing...
Good stuff Stu was saying he had an omex 600 and loom so would be an ideal set up.
I bought a head from Stu at the weekend so going to get that ported and skimmed a bit to up the comp ratio for a bit more power over winter.
Last time it was on the rollers it was 179 atw , I noticed on the straights I was pulling but need to get more track days in as my lines through the back section were s**t. I also need to get my bigger injectors fitted as they are at 100% at 6700 rpm so have my limiter set low.
Re: Road/Track 172
Couple of pictures from Saturdays open pit morning at knockhill.
Car was faultless all day drove it there did 6 track sessions including a couple of 30+ min sessions, changed the wheels and drove home :approve:
And since the focus is now sold I got a sensible 330D...
Yip that was me in the other cup, was good that there was a lot of clios out. Was first time out in my car since making alot of changes but it seemed to go ok and lasted the day without a problem.
Re: Road/Track 172
Got new coilovers fitted and alignment done, I've went for -2.5 camber and 10min toe out justnow and will see how I get on with that tomorrow at knockhill.
So gave the car a quick check over and loaded up the truck with wheels and tools ready.
With there being a good few Scottish owners on here would use be interested in having a rolling road day, I was going to see Simon at Sitech for a price. He is based in Rosyth so central and easy to get to for most people.
Re: Road/Track 172
Had a couple of hours on the Clio today to hopefully get it ready for a trackway at the weekend, all the old suspension removed and went to fit camber shims to the rear only to find out it has some fitted:).
Fitted a rear tow strap
Vented the front bumper
This is a...
Re: Road/Track 172
Nope just had other things on so parked it up but did think of selling , hardly used my kart this year either. Going to be working 4 on 4 off next year so hope to get more use out of the toys.
Re: Road/Track 172
I fitted a yahoo stiff shift into it so I think that's meant to give a 10% shorter throw but due to the longer shift it feels very similar to standard. I got the shift out of a mk1 megane for about £10, the shift position just feels so much better than normal but the test...
Re: Road/Track 172
Nope it hasn't moved from the front of my house in over 2months, I tried to get a space for the last track night but was too late.
I hope to try and get out on the 21st, but ideally could do with either getting my front GAZ rebuilt or some new suspension.
Looks good out on track Gaz,I phoned up about a couple of spaces for last night but it had sold out by the time I heard about it.
Last time I weighed my stripped cup it was 957kg , im hoping for around 900 now.
