I've been meaning to get some new plates since I picked the car up a month ago, I finally took the plunge last week so been waiting excitedly this week for them to come. Whilst out shopping at the weekend I stumbled across some stainless steel cleaner, so naturally thoughts.. Exhaust! So gave...
Looks great, mines got pretty harsh roadrash on the front end. Someone who owned it before me had the grills sprayed so they're starting to look a bit tatty.
I'm unsure on the french plates to be honest, I've literally in the last 5 minutes put some new plates on, opted for 3/4 on the front, but rather than the standard, I went for 90mm, as I wanted it to fill the recess.
Yesterday I removed the centre bracket and firegummed the join as it was blowing really badly.
Today I've cleaned my pipes, this decat malarky leads to extremely sooty pipes!

Shame the rest of the car is filthy... I'll wash it tomorrow after work!
Looking great, I've nipped to my folks to grab a bottle of tcut so will be running over mine again with 2000 and then cutting compound.
yours have come out great! Make sure you coat them in something with uv protection and keep maintaining the covering to stop them clouding again.
Should work, to be honest, I've used megs scratch x, but I could do with some standard t-cut, as the scratch-x is not quite harsh enough.
I looked a few places for wet and dry, but halfords was the only place I could find with the finer grades of wet/dry.
bucket of warm soapy water, 1200, 1500 and 2000 grade wet and dry, a tub of rubbing compound (tcut, meguires scratch-x etc)
Went through the grades, and then used a basic rotary buffer to apply the rubbing compound. I'm not 100% happy with them so I'll likely go back to the 1500, and work up again.
I've ordered them, can't wait for them to arrive. Every car I've owned I've always bought a fresh set of plates. Funny how something so trivial can tidy up the look of a car!
Yeah I know crazy lol, to be fair though, as I mentioned in a post in exterior mods, I had 3/4 font on a standard plate for about 3-4 years and never had any bother!
I've been reading up on the legalities of the 3/4 plate, according to this pdf on the gov.uk website the top, bottom and side margins have to be a (minimum) 11mm.
I've rigged my plate up in illustrator using the exact dimensions specified including the legal font size etc, and it looks to be...
Yeah, I appreciate the risk, about 6/7 years ago I had 3/4 font on a standard sized plate.. no idea why as it looks shocking looking back, however I went up and down the country, and even got pulled (not plate related) just a 'random' check.
I think this stands out more than a cropped plated...
I've been meaning to buy a new set of plates since I picked the car up about a month ago, just ordered some from fancy plates. opted for 3/4 on the front at 90mm, so fingers crossed for a snug fit.
I've mocked up in PS to see what it'll look like, what are peoples thoughts on the 3/4 front...
Sorry to bump an older thread, but I've got an issue with a leaking offside washer jet, it appears the plastic has actually split on the jet, and gravity is letting it leak!
Where can you get replacement jets, and how do you remove them?
I know a lot of people like to blank them, but I want...
Afternoon Chaps, Anyone local to me thats able to help with headlight restoration? I've not got the tools to do it myself (PC polisher etc)..
The lenses are the following condition:
They don't look too bad on the photo, but they're faded, and you can see evidence of roadrash towards the...
So I'm looking to service my 182, now my service book has full stamps, but I'm aware it's got an aftermarket k&n cone airfilter filter and no sign of the original air box.
I know if I took it for a service at a garage (to ensure I got a stamp) then they wouldn't touch the air filter.
The...
Looks great.
Love these on my 182, I've just fitted these 501 bulbs, which look amazing next to the HID's

Ahh, thought so, looked great. The centre section is blowing pretty bad on mine, but the dephaser sounds like sewing machine so thats on the todo list as priority, else I'd be half tempted!
I know... I didn't really pipe up about meeting up with anyone, I was in my brother in law's Renault 5, they did a bit of a convoy from leicester east services on the M1
I might take my 182 next year though!
ThomasBrentnall I do a bit of photography, so if you're local and ever fancy doing a...
To be fair, what I failed to mention, is I used several microfibre towels through the process, got a job lot of them from wilkos. I used a combination of both the chamois and the microfibre cloth.
