How do you know YOUR car hasnt had paintwork done before you picked it up? If the work is done to a good enough standard you will never know. That is what they should have done in this case which they havent.
A large part of the popularity of the CUP is down to the blue colour. If the 172 had been made in that colour from the outset it would be by far the biggest selling.
I imagine youd have to persuade any potential buyer that your car really was a CUP and not a silver 172 with CUP wheels. Just like you will every other person that doesnt read forums like this and still doesnt know they made them in silver.
They have the right to correct the faults. You cant turn down a car because its had extra paintwork done before sale. (You should check the car over thorougly before taking delivery) What are they supposed to do, scrap all the cars that get a ding on the way from the factory? I know some guys...
Why would you need one of those? All speed cameras have a warning sign and white stripes painted on the road. If you need a little device to warn you of something that is clearly visible you shouldnt be allowed on the roads in the first place.
Stu hasnt really told us what the dealer has said to him yet. If hes marched in there and demanded a new car because of a bit of iffy paintwork they have every right to say no.
The car is new. Lots of cars have paint work done on them prior to delivery. The dealer will argue that you have to give them the chance to put it right first.
It still looks nice in silver. And Im sure the one in Toomey Basildon had black seats in it. It looked quite classy. Im still glad I got blue though. Couldnt put up with people saying it wasnt a real cup if Id got silver.
What is an instantaneous read out anyway?
I reset mine before a journey the other day and watched it fluctuate as I drove on a dual carriageway. Managed to get to 40mpg. It would drop as I pushed the accelerator more so does that count as instantaneous?
I dont see how reg nos like this can be worth anything. Its not like an M3 or something where there are sure to be more variants in the future.
How much will the plate be worth in 10 years time?
I find the pedals are actually a bit slippy when your feet are wet. Stalled mine as I drove it away from the showroom because my foor slipped off the clutch.
Yeah, great arent they!? What the 172 should have been all along. I heard a rumour that the CUPS have maybe been getting the 182 engine tweaks aswell at the factory.
Ive had mine nearly 3 weeks and only done 180 miles! Id love to drive it on a track. It just feels like thats where it needs to be, Ive really started to notice just how bad most british roads are. Theyd rather spend money putting speed humps on a road than resurfacing it.
