Yes I know that, its just a habit that i keep writing V6, lol.
Anyway, I was actually at one point also considering a 330 Ci, but I take it you find the Clio more fun?
I've drove a 1.7. It was very willing from low revs, and takes off like an excited puppy. OK its not fast balls out, but for around town it felt plenty fast enough. The handling is excellent, it feels like a little go kart and has excellent grip and traction. Beautiful gearshift as well. Engine...
I said its more fun than nearly anything this side of £20k... now I know there are cars that are possibly more fun at that price, but some of them are very compromised, and pretty much all of them would be second hand. At new prices, theres virtually nothing (in my humble opinion) which has the...
Right, I am glad some people at least enjoyed reading what I have written...
For the moaners, so what ? Is there an unwritten rule that says I would *have* to replace a hot hatch like a Clio with a similar screamer like a Type R? Whats wrong with the Celica for one? Very much like a hot hatch...
True, but I fancied something different, and hot hatches really only entered into it towards the end. My original plan was to get a sports car of some kind, but in the end, when I would have to pay thousands to change over, and they are no more fun, then whats the sense in it?
I'll keep the...
And the Clio is here to stay after all of that. My overall impression is that you should be proud of your Clios. OK the build quality is pants, but there is very little out there at the right side of £20k that is more fun to drive, even though it might not be the fastest thing out there.
So...
Nearly 4k revs at 70 in SIXTH!
I want that gearbox!
Actually the 197 looks really rather good... the main things against it really are price, supposedly dodgy steering, and weight. Apart from that, it looks like another good'un... although the people carrier like seating doesnt appeal, still.
My driving style is like this: Wam the oil, then thrash mercilessly.
The only time i dont is on boring drives, like around town on "business". Mainly because the chance of getting caught and/or running someone over is too high. Or on motorways for example because to me they are boring whether...
Sounds like what car is a little more realistic than autocar... saying that the 31.7 MPG figure is unlikely if you are an enthusiastic driver, as most RS owners seem to be.
The Autocar review on the other hand, suggested 182 owners were unlikely to even see 25 MPG, despite the fact that most...
Hmm, they say 31.7 mpg is good news for those who couldnt get a 182 past 25MPG. Well, I drive mine like i stole it and rarely get much less than 28 MPG.
Methinks they are talking s**t TBH.
Because in Newcastle today I was wandering around at lunchtime and saw a blue coloured mk2 that looks like it had just ram raided halfords, with a big spoiler on teh back, great big wheels, in fact in short, just about any tasteless cosmetic accesory you can think of was bolted to this thing...
Well it does seem extremely unlikely it was a 4.2. I guess it could have been either of the others.
It really wasnt very good on the corners though.
This is perhaps my favourite thing about driving the Clio - a lot of people just dont seem to realise how nippy they are. Its quite amusing...
Just had a little encounter on a dual carriageway (one with several roundabouts breaking it up) and had a Jag XJ6 with a young bloke behind me, obviously looking to try and get me to put my foot down... so oblidged.
Now, I dont know what size engine it had, but it was a big car and I was...
Its true... i've drove a mk3 DCI and it feels like your sitting in a people carrier.
When I got back into the 182 it felt like a sports coupe!
Also the steering thing is worrying - the DCI I drove had truly horrid artificial feeling steering. It felt like a playstation steering wheel.
Must admit its growing on me a bit now, even if it does look like the clone of many other cars on the market.
The interior in particular seems like a huge improvement on the 182.
Makes you wonder if the trophy owners would replace that suspension with the OEM one when theirs is worn out or whether they'd just go straight to coilovers.
In some ways I'm glad I didnt pay the extra for the trophy - I'm sure it handles better out the box and the seats, colour and wheels...
M3's are fast, but boring. I've known several people who've had them, downgraded to hot hatches and say they have more fun.
M3's are fast, but are afflicted with the lack of soul that seems to affect german cars.
FWIW I've never had anyone call me or my clio "gay". Maybe its because most...
Just found that (eventually)...
http://www.whatcar.com/car-review-costs.aspx?RT=339&ED=46235&U=0
According to it, the cost is 37p per mile. Thats less than I thought it would be to be honest, although whether it accounts for depreciation is another question.
I'm still not convinced my...
As title really, just wondering what the cost per mile to run an RS is in pence, I'm curious as I'm trying to work out whether its really worth me using my car for work at the rate of mileage I get (around 42p / mile but presumably with tax taken off also).
I had this problem. Took ages to sort. I discovered that if i put pressure on the panel where the interior light is, it fixes it. I took it to the dealer and they re-sealed the windscreen. Doesnt do it anymore now. Might be worth looking at.
Had mine 6 months now. The only problems have been squeeling / whistling noise at high speed - went back several times for that now sorted - the windscreen wasnt properly sealed. The alarm acted up. That was an easy fix. The climate control failed. Again that was an easy fix. Now and again a...
