Lower curve was from a year ago, 19k miles having been driven mostly by the original OAP owners (so likely never seen over 3k rpm) and no doubt on standard 95 fuel.
Upper curve is from today...I've spent the last year putting 22k more miles on it (a daily 50 mile beasting on deserted country A...
Had my 200 on the rollers today, no issues at all and parked it up fine afterwards.
An hour or so later when I come to leave, the ABS warning light along with the ESP light are illuminated and I get two dashboard messages telling me I have errors with both systems. ESP button was non-responsive...
As most will know a year ago I started logging every single £ spent on my 200 from the second I bought it at 2.5 years old with 18k miles on it. With a full year's data to play with, what have I learned?
It seems to be getting more economical with age/mileage. I'm going to get it RRd in...
I've been running this set of Yokohama Advan AD08s since July, have covered 7.5k miles including 3 trackdays, very impressed with them so far.
I'm at Rentech this morning for a service, and Dave spotted this...
I'm struggling with what's caused this? If it were a simple puncture/penetration I...
Over 4 years and 24k miles, with new bought using Renault's 4+ PCP finance package and used bought for cash. Difference isn't as much as I thought it'd be. Interesting exercise all the same.
I've spent the last few days playing with this and think it holds water. If anyone wants to challenge...
I've taken out the cost of trackdays, hotels, sundries, mileage and tanks of fuel that are related to trackdays...and as suspected the difference isn't huge, still not pleasant reading.
Might have to downsize to a 100hp after going around Llandow in Pete's.
Increased miles have seen the average monthly cost and pence per mile reduce, but there's no getting away from the painful cost of fuel and depreciation.
Depreciation has continued at £5/day...valuing it today at £8,490...which is fair I think.
The recent day at Llandow came and went without...
Oddly enough I'm considering a new iphone to replace my creaking Galaxy. Never looked into iphones before, pricing, tariff, anything really so am pretty clueless.
While idly browsing/researching this morning, I see the sim free pricing for the current 4S and I'm a little shocked tbh;
16GB =...
Great day had with Easytrack yesterday, spent most of it getting passed by just about everything boosted and lots that wasn't.
Sun/heat was ridiculous but meant perfect conditions all day long on the mostly empty 3.8 miles of tiwsteez yo.
Have just brimmed the tank, all cost data is in, so here's the usual...
Mileage continues building at a rate of 19k per annum
Fuel price has been good lately
Economy averages at 33.5 mpg although I've seen 43 once, and 40 is readily available if I can be arsed. Llandow is a little...
Works well I think, wish it sounded like this from outside.
Got it back with its new front hubs today, fully aligned, feels solid. Was very fidgety before. Totally in love again.
1st MOT, failed dismally.
Apart from the nail in the sidewall of a rear tyre, it's got excessive wear in one ball joint, slight wear in the other. Requires hub replacement at £200 a side plus 4.5 hrs + VAT.
Rentech Mike says he's never changed one on a 197/200.
Argued the toss with Renault UK...
Got me a powered mic and a loooong lead for my b'day, for a laugh I stuck it up the airbox inlet pipe with promising results. Should be good for trackdays :approve:
POWERRRRRRRRR
Back in May when Tony & Jay raced in the CSCC Tin Tops series at Brands Hatch I tagged along, camcorder and tripod in hand, and spent the entire day being a nuisance with it. Combining my resulting footage with some of theirs (thanks Jay ), I've made this video diary following the...
The benefits of the datalogger are HUGE, wish I'd done this when I had my 172 Cup.
The 'G'-force trace and throttle bar have made me realise I have some bad habits that need fixing; lack of consistency on the brakes, not managing smoothly enough the transition from braking to steering when...
My GoPro HD Hero 2 Motorsports package arrived today. Got home late, tried it out.
Impressed! Light was fading so the later clips are grainy, but the rest seem good enough. Hope it's sunny at Llandow.
How thick is the non-pauper dashboard on my 200? I want to screw GoPro mounts to it, any tips?
I expect you'll all get bored of this long before I do, but I intend to keep this going for as long as I own my 200 (likely to be at least 5 years).
I'll update it periodically, and it will hopefully be a useful guide for anyone pondering 'can I afford one?'.
Car : Clio Renaultsport 200...
A friend thinks so, and without too much trouble apparently. A trip to Rentech then my mate's bodyshop at the weekend will tell. Hope it is as the fouling on the wing seems more severe now...makes me wince every time I open/close it LOL.
Opened the drivers door, a huge gust of wind gets hold of it, I grabbed the handle...but with no leverage it got ripped out of my hand and then the door proceeded to try and meet the front wing :(
Door closes and locks OK, but needs pressure to close it properly. Doesn't seat as it should...
Picked up the 200 at the beginning of December 2011, the last fill up took me past 6,000 miles. Since I got it I've recorded every single penny spent on fuel, insurance, VED, consumables, tools, cleaning shizzle, accessories, and trackdays. Going to keep this going so will post updates as the...
I watched my Cup reverse off of the drive for the last time this morning...and it broke my heart.
The buyers seemed genuine enough, they plan on trackday use only so it should get the abuse it's grown to need/love. I got a good price for it, so all should be happy.
But I'm verging on...
Pictures just because I've spent all day cleaning it, digging out history, writing it all up, then sticking it up on Pistonheads classifieds.
I'm emotional.
...but I'm unsure of the following...
My 172 Cup's speedo doesn't work as there's no drive from the gearbox, so I have a Road Angel showing MPH instead.
Is this legal?
Thanks
Stupid suicidal motherfcukers basically!
Do they really posses no survival instinct whatsoever?
Had to haul up sharpish en route home tonight, traffic coming the other way so I had to come to a standstill and lean on the horn.
Two others almost did the same but ran off just before I...
...I've done some science, and come up with the following...
Firstly, the accountant in me is obsessed with working out the true cost to me of this car, so from day one I have religiously recorded every penny spent using Fuel Log (Android app). After 4 months and almost 6,000 miles I think...
