    Lambda sensors

New Bosch lambda fitted yesterday. Car ran a lot smoother from cold this morning and didn't feel like it was being held back. Will probably take a little while to notice any increase in fuel economy, but was definitely worth changing.

    Yet another curveball...

In the six months or so I've owned my 172 I've always thought the engine sounded a little 'tappety', but put it down to the fact that the F4R isn't exactly the smoothest or quietest of units at the best of times. Had the car in the garage yesterday for some other work and mentioned to the...

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

I can second that regarding the oil. I made the mistake of oiling my Ktec foam filter using ITG spray without wearing gloves. My hands looked like they belonged to a smurf for days afterwards.

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

They do need oiling. The filter oil helps to trap the dust.

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

I doubt a cotton filter will filter any better than a foam one. If anything I would have thought a cotton one would let more dirt through. Only one way to find out though. At the end of the day, all free flowing filters will let more dirt through than stock, whether cotton or foam. As long as...

    Induction Kit

Slightly off topic (although it still involves induction kits). I've got a ktec kit fitted and have a Marc B battery cover to go on. Other than aesthetics, does the cover do much in terms of preventing heat soak and does does it alter the sound of the kit at all?

    Lambda sensors

Just ordered one off George@RTR. Slightly more expensive than the one in the link, but need it pretty quickly. Still considerably cheaper than Renault OE one though.

No pics of mine unfortunately as was just before camera phones. Was Sport Blue with a devil exhaust and 17" TSW venoms (very much of their time those wheels lol). In hindsight the OE Turbines or Vegas look much better.

In hindsight my valver was also far less troublesome than my 172, maybe with it being a simpler car with less to go wrong. I can literally count on one hand the issues I had with it in 20k miles of ownership. The 172, erm... ?

Sadly I think the closest I'll get to a Williams now is a set of speedlines for my 172 ?

Would appear my old one is no more. Sold it as spares or repairs in 2003 after I put it on it's side in a country lane. Looks like it went back on the road for a while though. Miss that car.

    Lambda sensors

Think it was in one of my previous threads actually. Checked earlier and the price had gone up, although not by much.

    Lambda sensors

Just bought some rear brakes off him funnily enough. Top service.

    Lambda sensors

Yup, in that price range on eBay from reputable sellers. ECP are about £100 and genuine Renault are about £130,even from RPD.

Thanks. I reckon at 15 odd years old it's probably worth changing then.

    Lambda sensors

May be a daft question, but if the front lambda sensor isn't functioning correctly would you always get an engine management warning light? I have no lights on so would this mean it's definitely functioning as it should? ?

    Lambda sensors

Fuel economy has dipped a bit recently and runs like a pig when cold (normal to an extent though with these lol). Am getting my thermostat and temp sensor changed as Ive noticed a bit of fluctuation on engine temperature gauge recently and it's probably on the original thermostat anyway. Can't...

    Having problems removing OMP boss.

Not quite sure how that would work properly, but if it did for you then happy days. I had exactly the same setup (omp boss and steering angle sensor set correctly) and still had a traction control warning light. Lights went away as soon as I fitted a momo boss with the tabs.

    Having problems removing OMP boss.

There's likely two different versions. One with tabs and one without.
  25. Pricey98

    Having problems removing OMP boss.

As long as its the version with the tabs. If it isn't you'll get a traction control warning light, even if the steering angle sensor is set correctly. Mine was showing the yellow dot, but because my boss didn't have the tabs I got the light.

    Having problems removing OMP boss.

Funnily enough I had a bit of an issue removing my OMP boss this afternoon when replacing with a momo one. It took a bit of pulling (without the wheel on), but it did eventually come off. Was a stubborn b*stard mind...

    Having problems removing OMP boss.

Once you get the boss off the car, have a look to see if it has these two little tabs on the back that engage with the steering angle sensor. If it doesn't, you'll constantly get the warning light as it can't engage with the angle sensor.

    Having problems removing OMP boss.

Can't offer any advice about removing the boss other than yank it lol, but with regard to the steering angle sensor, are you sure you have the correct boss? I have an OMP one and it doesn't have the tabs for the steering angle sensor so have bought a momo one instead.

    1992 Clio Mk1 Clio Resto/rebuild

Following. Love a mk1 Clio. No photos of my old one unfortunately as no camera phone in 2002 ? Edit - I'm sure I saw this one on ebay a few weeks ago. They rarely come up these days.
