From what I've read it seems to be a bit of a lottery. Some cars use a bit of oil, some don't. I think Renault's acceptable level is something crazy like 1L every 600 miles or so.
I've had to put in half a litre in total. Well within spec I know, however it seemed to have used about a quarter of a litre in a week when I checked last weekend (measured on dipstick). Granted the work car park where I checked isn't 100% level and the engine had been run for a minute or so, so...
I've noticed my 172 has been using a bit of oil recently. No obvious leaks, smoke, etc, although I have been driving it a bit more 'enthusiastically' shall we say. I had the oil changed around a thousand miles ago when I first bought the car, and the garage used 5w40 (although it was Renatec in...
I did read that somewhere. Only difference I can see from the filter that people use with the fatty kit is that the Ktec filter fits inside the silicone hose. Otherwise it's pretty much the same...
I've only had the fatty on my car for about two weeks and already want the Ktec. Don't get me wrong, the fatty sounds awesome but the Ktec definitely sounds better. It is a lot of money for a silicone hose and a filter, however it's comparatively cheap compared with an ITG Maxogen, BMC, etc.
I'll go with non resonated, as said above can always get silencer welded in if my ears start to bleed lol. Tbh, I want it loud anyway, otherwise I'd stick with something more standard. Not concerned about track day noise limits or anything as doubt she'll ever see a track ?
One last decision to make. I'm keeping the standard cat for now (may decat ofter mot), but should I go for resonated or non resonated? I want it to be louder than standard with a nice tone, but not obnoxiously deafening. Do I go for a centre silencer or not? Thoughts?
My central locking won't work off the key fob (or the spare key), so I have to lock/unlock the car using the passenger side door lock and central locking button on the dash. Not a huge drama, but unfortunately because of this I can't arm the alarm. I've previously had the AA out who confirmed...
Just been down to Pro Speed and had a chat with Charlie. He's doing me a 2.25" bore cat back with a 3" slash cut recessed tailpipe for £340 all in. He's even doing it overnight for me tomorrow, so will drop car off at tea time and pick up on Wednesday morning. Top bloke ??
I remember my old valver, which was only about nine years old when I had it, actually had a rust hole developing in the rear quarter. I think a combination of iffy inner arch guard design, patchy rust proofing and potentially the odd dodgy repair don't help these cars lol
Ha, I've been reading the owner likes a bit of banter lol. Found a thread on here where someone was quoted just under 400 for a straight through decat. Sounds promising ?

May not be any more expensive than buying a ktec or pms and then having to pay someone to fit it. Think they're a one stop shop, so definitely worth getting a price ?
There's a place in Cardiff called Pro Speed exhausts. May be worth me popping in for a chat with them as they build custom exhausts and seem to have a decent rep.
Think I'm edging more towards shelling out for a new Ktec recessed supersport cat back unless a used one turns up in the next couple of days. Granted they're north of 300 notes, but you do get a lifetime guarantee with them.
Anybody have any experience with Sportex? They're cheap, but are they cheap and cheerful or cheap and nasty?

Ideally I'd like go for a ktec supersport recessed, but unfortunately funds don't allow...
So just to carry on my recent run of Clio related bad luck, my exhaust has started blowing it's t*ts off a couple of weeks before MOT time ? I don't have access to axle stands unfortunately, but from crouching and having a look underneath it looks like it has a scabby looking standard system...
