If you are asking if 4 pot calipers will greatly reduce your stopping distance, the quick and simple answer is no, they will not. They do greatly improve overall braking performance, but they will not drastically reduce your stopping distance. If you don't think your car stops soon enough, buy...
Firstly, i know my car is a rusty old bucket... I feel bad showing my rusty under bits when I know how clean people on here keep their Clios... Mine is a tool, it goes around track as fast as my limited bag of tallent can take it, she don't need to be pretty..
Now, to my question. Is it me or...
Do you get clonking noises when turning into a driveway for example? or over speed bumps?
I have the same setup and I get clunk and twong noises all over the place.
I am still getting my clonk. from under the car. It only really happens now when I go over a speed bump at an angle, so as one side of the suspension is loaded up I get a clunk from under the car...
So far have replaced
Full/vibra engine mounts with powerflex dog bone
wishbones
pure motorsport...
My box has a slightly sketchy 4th gear. If I drive like a spanner and rush the gear change it will crunch.
I suggest to anyone first try taking your time with the gear change, don't attack it like your filming a drag race for the latest fast and furious film.
Thanks for the even more depressing news captain hindsight :)
All this and I am still praying the cambelt's not damaged.
EDIT, just realized that the part they ordered was the idler, and they thought that was a repair kit for the tensioner. And there was me being nice to the Kwikfit boys, haha
Yeah, they originally ordered just the bearing and a belt... bearing would not fit and gates don't sell the right one. So had to order the complete tensioner. Talk about an ouch moment.
300+ Euro job. :(
I trust these guys to fit an AUX belt. Nice bunch of lads to be honest, Been there several times with punctures and when I was having my car tracked every other week with the s**tty VMAXX coil overs.
Honestly a competent and very knowledgeable bunch of guys.
EDIT: in fact, to prove the point...
Its nothing more than an assumption. I was also wrong.....;)
Welcome to the sale of my much loved project, It has taken me just over two years to complete. It has split T bar gear change as you can run the car one one engine or two, It has two Honda Fireblade 900cc engines Running on a dummy...
Ahh, I see. Well I purchased a Stanley knife, cut the belt off and drove to kwik bodge. Engine seems OK but did not rev it. New gates belt and tensioner bearing should be fitted by the end of the day.
Fingers Crossed I may have been lucky, just nipped down for a quick smoke so had a look at the damage. Seems the belt is fraying on the non cambelt side so I am hoping nothing has come in contact with the cam belt.
So, fitted the KTR engine mounts this weekend. Been having a squeaky AUX belt for a while, so yesterday I decided to spray the belt with this anti squeak stuff. Got to work this morning and I noticed my engine was making a horrible sound like bits falling off it. Popped the bonnet open and there...
