    Flame Red DCi 172 Rep.

Cat isn't required for MOT, don't even need to look like it has a cat. Throw it away! I'll see about getting a vid, although if you're at the meet at the end of the month, You can hear it then/come for a drive and you'll get a proper idea. You don't NEED a bit of pipe from where you've cut the...

    Iceburg Clio Sport 172 Repair

I forgot to add (as I added the vid last), but it ran much better after that vid, idled properly, reved properly and tapping disappeared (that was due to empty lifters/dephaser), Runs sweeet as a nut now :)

Cub's Flamer - Supercharged, Cage etc

Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project I love it when this thread get bumped as I love to see it as I scroll down. Looks perfect, but then I do love a real flamer!

    Flame Red DCi 172 Rep.

I wanted climate more than it being a correct sport rep, look inside and you'll see incorrect dials that don't rev high enough! Had it done that day/next day, all works as it should. Still standard, although decatted and no backbox now, deffo quicker now. Loads more work to come! Dash is a...

    Iceburg Clio Sport 172 Repair

BIG update :) First up, rebuild head. 16 new valves, skimmed, 6 new rockers, new valve stem seals, decoked and valves lapped in. Lifters drained too. Block face cleaned up, pistons decoked etc. Quality Payne gasket Then a expensive box from Renault Wolvo appeared, this meant I could...

SRI alloys on clio bore and fitting issues

Clio bore is 60.1, Vauxhall alloys are 56.1 So thus, smaller bore wheels, bigger bore hubs.

Clio 1.5 dci 65 Cold start issue / glow plug light

When you took the fuel pickup/sender out, did you notice any shiney bits in the bottom of the tank? Most likely something like this... Also, where abouts are you, if you're local I'd happily plug it in for you.

    Lightweight battery

Gel is a brilliant idea, Mostly due to better cycling, but also from a safety aspect, being non leaking etc. Whatever you get, as long as it has enough power to start the car, thats all that matters, Just don't go leaving the ign on for ages and expect it to start!

Pic request, Flame Red PH2 with Anthracite 172's

Searched high and low, and all I can find is threads with pictures that no longer work :( Looking to refurb my wheels and can't decide between keeping the standard Silver or going Anthracite, so pics please! :)

Updated pics of my replica 172

Saw this at the meet last night, we all commented on how from a distance, it looked good, however it was clearly too damn high! Xenons, Lowering, Spacers and cup spoiler and it'll be sorted... But I am bias.

    172 problems :(

Where abouts are you? Thinking somebody with knowledge could give you a hand (I'm offering if you're local). I'm guessing there was some kind of f**k up, or genuinely sat around a dealership for years. Impressive!

    Lightweight battery

Only becomes an issue if fitted on, as you say, a car that isnt used, They don't like slight gradule draining, like from clock etc, but will be fine for about 36/48hours, as long as it gets driven and thus charged. If the cars not going to be used for a few days, battery will need...

    Lightweight battery

All a battery does is supply enough voltage to start the car, alternator takes over once running.

    Flame Red DCi 172 Rep.

I use my car too hard to have it too close, but what I really mean is I have the spacers here already, I just need the archs rolled to clear properly. Will worry about that in the very distant future. Another update.. Yesterday, started like this... Few moments later... Even later...

    New broken trophy

Makes sence buying a cheap broken one IMO, 90% of the time, by the time you've made it perfect, it will have cost the same as a supposed good running one, but all used cars have faults. Plus, you know more about the car having fixed it. Anyway, I shall be following your progress, as always...

    tow straps

Problem I have with tow straps, is if used to pull the car sideways slighty, like out of gravel, it will just rip the front bumper, Stick with a proper tow eye

    Tail's DCi 100.

Headlights make a huge differance, Every time I walk to my car now and see the front end, I love it. Needs full sport kit though :P

    wiper arm damaging windscreen!

Theres a locating pin on the bulkhead that you need to slot the wiper mech into, its really easy to see when you have it all apart.

Just the serv / service light illuminated

Most basic readers can't get ABS codes, some can't even go into the ABS. Get it to a decent garage, or somebody with decent equipment. Edit: Thats why I should refresh pages before replying! Doh.

What have you done to your car today ???

Restored headlights on my DCi, stripped some more of the 172. Now debating cleaning both cars, and finally spraying the grills black in both.

    MOT Fail

Had this on two clios, was the inner balljoint on the track rod, they are about £20 each and easy enough to replace.

DCI 65 cambelt change, few questions

Rather than the bottom crank pully having a key, it just spins on the crank, IMO makes it easier to do the belt, Just need to make sure you get the bottom pully up to the torque, leave it too loose and you'll bend valves the first time you rev it. Top locking tools, although the only one you...

    Have I bought a dog of a 182?

Everybody here is saying about 4/5 litres, theres only a litre between min and max on the dip stick, so its most likely only lost half a litre, assume it used/leaked a bit to get to the min before purchase. Funny thread though.

    Bought a 182 today - got a few issues...

Horn is as said, mostly liekly a dirty connection on the horn itself, remove bumper, or arch liner to gain access. Located in passenger side front corner Fogs, check they are plugged in (Same area as horn), if plugged in, check bulbs, Unlikely to be switch if light comes on, could be relay, but...

is my aux tensioner fooked? (video inside)

As its noisy, get a aux belt kit from renault (£50 from wolvo), and while its off check the water pump spins freely, or just replace that too if you fancy it. Always hard to diagnose a noise problem with a video.

    Flame Red DCi 172 Rep.

Piss easy job mate, but these had been fucked with. Yours will be a easy case of remove old, fit new. Don't even need to completely remove bumper.
