I wasn't going to bother until there was something worth while updating :P
Fixed knocking, and running issue, car was basically done before Terry ruined it. Just got to reassemble it since it was raining and I couldn't be arsed to piss about with it in the rain!
Get a garage to plug it in, most likely seat wiring moving as you boot it and just loosing connection slightly, very common on Clio's and many other cars for that matter.
That is one of two ways I'm likely to come, its either through sudbury, as per coming to yours as you said, Or via Haverhill, Undecided yet as I love both due to the fun roads (when theres no traffic anyway!)
Any reason?
Too late! However I've still not finished them, Lacking time!
It'll do it wonders.
Good to hear :)
That'll be fine, that is all mine gets really, whatever I can find cheap!
Should pop round.
I live in Dunmow (By the angel), that Monaco 172 I've seen a lot too. The flamer is maybe mine? I've seen you about a couple of times. Paris is always round mine now and driving through dunmow.
Back on topic...
Aux belt kit, Forgot a pic of the full kit, but heres a tensioner... lol
Mostly back together...
Then boom, All back together and running sweet
Taken it for a 100 yard test drive, seems good, freed off the rear brakes from being sat, Few more bits to do, but plan to book...
I shall be there, Hopefully bring a mate or two in another clio (Either Terry in the Silver 172 I recently finished, or Paris in his Artic 182), I won't be in the black 172 by then :( However it'll be the first time any of you have seen my clio in person since it being mostly finished)
Actually I painted the ones from the car, I figured I'd buy another set if I didn't like it.
I like it as from a distance it looks like a sport, but up close I'm not lying about the tractor engine under the bonnet.
Reko - Cheers buddy :)
Lol probably as I'm resonably new on here (been properly active the past 6months I'd say), Should meet sometime :)
Lol awh. Welcome anytime, but I'll see you at the meet soon ;)
If i wasn't working on this one I'd be working on another, I love playing with cars. I don't value my time that highly as there's nothing else I'd rather do.
£500 purchase
£84 belt kit
£90 ddephaser
£34 service
£free brakes
£35 mot
no need for engine mounts, it's no worse than any other clio RS
then..
-£200 gaz coilovers (standard nearly new in the boot)
-£150 Ktec Stealth exhaust (same as above)
And even with your list, assuming you're right...
I've seen it before, normally on cars with snapped cambelts though!
Just a case of being on the ball, checking ebay, forums etc, Its worked well for me so far
I'm still surprised it lasted this long!
I actually loled at that. I cleaned up the oil, and none of it went onto at all. That is new oil, what came through is clearly what was just sat in the oilways etc. I'm not a f**king idiot.
I'd take loads more if I actually remembered!
Bloody lucky, the first thing I did when I picked the car up was start it and rev it quite hard, plus moving it around my drive etc, Could have snapped at any time, although I imagine if it was going to go, it would have gone on the previous owner...
Another day, Loads more progress.
Cambelt kit arrived (Gates belt) so stripped the car tonight to get it fitted.
Removed the top belt cover and was greated by this...
For those that don't know, that is one of two cambelt idlers, the plastic you can see has broken off. Bloody...
Paris spent the afternoon at mine, so heres some pics!
Firstly, posted this elsewhere, but the fleet of Clio's! lol
Got a brand new Genuine (thanks to Adam at Wolvo) engine mount to go on....
I forgot to get pics :( but Paris fitted that mostly on his own, First mechanical job hes done and...
Re: Another £500 Bargain BG Clio 172
Pretty much the plan, Similar as I done to the Iceberg 172 I did recently (theres a thread about that too!).
Yeah thats fair enough, I never pay for something like that to be done on my car, I have all the proper tools so just as good.
Today was a bit...
Today was a proper clio day lol!
Got the clio under a gazebo to keep the rain off while doing rear brakes
Engine bay done (can just see headlights too)
Basically done, needs tracking, knocking looking into and a weird running issue.
Til next time!
Re: Another £500 Bargain BG Clio 172
Remembered afterwards! Will ask somebody nicely to change it!
I have all the proper tools to do the belts the same as a specialist would. This will be the third RS I've done, and the sixth renault using the tools.
