I think both the soft and race with sports cats would 100% be track friendly. Theyre not loud at all. The Cup racer with single rear box and decat i imagine would get you more black flags than Jack Sparrows crew. lol
Mine had the original option Porsche short shifter which I have to say is pretty good. This is the true meaning of the words “bolt action” though. To be honest, the price isn’t that bad $700 USD.
Kevs 100% right. Lead shot in the shift tube and a preloaded NMB bearing shut mine up to levels I can just about live with.
Failing that, new OEM with brass inserts are probably as good as you’ll get.
The likes of the CAE etc suffer less as they’re all designed for boxes with cable operated...
Superb write up and I’ve actually had the pleasure of looking over it the Thursday before it was mapped on the Friday.
I fully understand the emotional attachment and your reasons for overhauling it. I own my own 182 for the second time so fully get why you don’t want anything else for the...
Orbisoud are a French company responsible for the exhausts on the genuine X65 Cup racers. For many they’re considered “the” exhaust to have for a Mk2 Clio. They’re very expensive and rare and I’ve always had my eye out for one.
They did make 3 versions of it so it could be used on the road...
Having spoken to them about it, its very much in the works but not ready yet. Im keen to see if they can improve on the PMS rattling whilst retaining the shift quality.
Lets be honest here, the PMS still isnt that amazing. Its better than OE, but the OEM unit is so poor, almost anything is an...
More than likely worn synchros and selector rings causing your issue, and as said the JC5 does not like to be rushed into gear.
The PMS won’t make any difference, except it will rattle, buzz, spoil your drive and generally get on your tits.
Get your gearbox freshened up and add some brass...
Quick search threw these up.
Pretty sure he’d turn you up a pair in any size you wanted. If I wasn’t so flat out at the mo dude I’d jump on a lathe at work and turn you up a pair.
See images above.
Steering column bolts to the dash cross bar just underneath the instrument binacle/dial cluster.
Remove the M8 hardware, add spacers and refit. Couldn’t be simpler. 🙂
Yeah stock bolts will cope with 8mm but i did change em at a later date. I had these turned up for another project so already had them on the shelf. Pretty sure ive seen a fella on Faceache selling steering column spacers.
Stock are M8 but cant remember the length off the top of my head. They will still accommodate an 8mm drop on the column.
Drop one out and get some 8mm longer, they're super easy to access :)
8mm is as low as you can go without cutting brackets.
I started with 5mm and then added spacers to get as much as possible. 8mm seemed to be the one for me.
I had a similar issue and like you, checked everything, found nothing and no witness marks of anything moving.
I cured mine by gunning up the lower arm/subframe hardware. Like you all my stuff was new and torqued to spec.
Worth a try if you've gone this far.
So you may remember me fitting a new AC condenser over lockdown and since then with everything being shut, I was unable to get the system recharged.
A good friend of mine (John) is a refrigerants engineer and he recommended I also fitted a fresh drier unit and changed the oil in the system.
So...
Very cool to see. JDM cars can so easily look pants in the UK, yet seeing a Supra with bonkers wing and some weird stickers just looks so right under the Tokyo lights.
Bucket list stuff for many a petrolhead i think :)
