Exhaust manifold is 4-2-1 on 182
172 ph1 are quite different (cable throttle) but 182 and 172ph2 are virtually the same.
The inlet manifolds are all RS stamped on 182s, whereas only some 172s have the RS stamp afaik
RS stamped ones are supposed to be a little better
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
thinking about it though, if it's spun a bottom end bearing, it's not going to be worth doing anything to that crank.
Bottom end checks first?
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
This is the F4Rs completely 'floating engine' setup or something isnt it. Piss poor design idea imo
Sorry to see this Jord. That's real real hard luck mate. I'd get the engine back out and on the stand and then look at options. You may even be able to see a bent valve...
I'd recommend looking into ASUS laptops. Always found ASUS kit is really good stuff and they are good value these days too.
Sounds a pretty good deal you have with dell there.
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
hmmmmm. I'd definitely bench test the starter with a battery and jump leads. If it's spinning then you know your problem is elsewhere.
Where did this engine come from mate? Have you had the sump off it?
I woulda used a chip holder when soldering in the chip. It's not the chip that has the immobiliser, it's somewhere else in the ECU isnt it?
Is your immobiliser light on the dash flashing during cranking?
check underneath, check the driveshaft CV boots to see if they've split and sent grease flying everywhere
throughly check the climate control warms and cools
cheers dan, that's interesting. I had heard about mild-steel manifolds but tbh I'd originally dismissed it as a bit of a cheap compromise. I was clearly wrong
Techy question here,
Stainless steel grades for turbo manifolds. What's good, what's not good.
I've heard 321 and 347 are good. 328 is not good.
anyone have any idea - is this true - why?
