As GTi6steve said do the thermostat aswell its hugely overlooked and never changed, also consider changing the cts

sometimes decats will not make the EML come on and other times the EML is constanly on. Best thing to do is get the code read and go from there but i 99% reckon its caused by the decat

Don't worry mate 9 times out of 10 its a cheap easy fix. Find someone with a code reader or rstuner to read the code for you, steer clear of dealerships as you shall be robbed of your hard earned pennies just to plug it in and see what the problem is. mine used to come on alot turned out to...

Its normal that most 172 cups fail the MOT due to little or no effort in the rear calipers. There is a letter issued by VOSA to take to test centre, search on here to find the link to it

what was the code? what plugs was used and are the ht leads genuine?
