gearboxes can be a bit odd in clios and sometimes you need to select another gear when stationary and return to the one you were trying to select. Revs dropping low like that could be any number of sensor faults, but most likely throttle body if its a ph2.

had a peugeot expert with this fault, would come on after a few mins, turned out to be the resistor.

have you tried changing the bulb, sounds stupid but like you say its a basic bit of wiring on the mk1.

alternator bearings or the aux belt tensioner usually on the RS's.

We supplied a second replacment stalk, and i specifically tested it on the vehicle it was removed from for him. So stalk is definitely ruled out.

the big pipe at the bottom has a tendancy to leak also so just make sure its not that before you go replacing the radiator. thanks

if the rear seats are present then belts must be fitted, otherwise as far as i understand its perfectly legal/safe. The bit about it been dangerous is utter utter pap.

drop the rear of the headliner down and it will reveal the 10/13mm nuts to remove the tailgate.

his steering is the electric steering as its a mk2 ph2 non rs.

possible dodgy stalk i would say.
