I finally got some coilovers for the barge the drop is about 50mm as its the daily driver.
before
After
Sorry for the bad quality pics i'll upload better quality ones as soon as my mate sends me them.
it was 112 db when my mate had the car my blueflame was a lot quieter. I was going to swap mine with the lad you bought the car off as mines only used on road.
the garage probably disconnected or knocked the gear linkage while messing with the exhaust it would be worth getting it looked at as this would explain the difficulty in changing gears
Mine is down to about 920kgs now but i've still got quite a bit of weight left in there to remove.
possible areas for saving in mine are
dash out
lose the aircon
remove the soundeadening that is on the roof
remove window mechs and rear wiper motor
thats all i could do now with out buying...
I've beaten a few type r's but mines completly stripped so its hardly a fair comparison. Plus i have come to the conclusion that type r drivers can't drive for s**t i'm sure i could make a type r get away from the line quicker. it may be down to the gear ratios as the type r has the six speed...
How do you find the spax suspension? i was considering these but nobody uses them. My mates had a few sets on other cars and has always liked them. They have the adjustable damping etc which i like the idea of.
I don't know that car but if its immaculate in everyway and the only thing putting you off is the springs i'd say get it. If you really want it standard you could probably pick up a set of cup springs for about £30 but as said if the are eibachs they are better handling anyway and no less...
No there won't be any difference between a ph1 and an early ph2 really i was thinking more towards the 182 but if they are out of budget then that is fair enough.
You'll love a ph1 as you know i've had two now and its the only one i'd have.
where in that did i mention interior?
what i meant was unless you spend a lot of money refreshing bushes, suspension and engine mounts a ph1 is always going to drive like an old car coz it is an old car. his 05 plate clio is going to feel a lot tighter and less wobbly/creaky/clunky than any...
I know this totally goes against everything i have ever said but could you live with a ph1 everyday? they are getting on a bit now and they feel really old. You have an 05 plate ish clio and to drop down to a ph1 even if it is a sport will be a big downgrade in quality. I know full well i...
as above its the coolant tank. the bigger of the two at the back. check the level is not above maximum. Its best to look for leaks when the engine is warmed up and the coolant is under pressure. i had a leak on my 172 and it was just a minute hole in one of the coolant pipes
They get a lot twitchier under braking when stripped so becareful if you do it. i actually prefered the handling when standard. mines on eibach sportlines and its still sky high and needs coilovers.
My mate got his stripped clio weighed and it was down to 940kg mine should be more towards the 920kg mark. You can increase the power to weight ratio by quite a bit if you can cope with it. I hate mine stripped its so noisy and rattly.
Mines not a cup but i've stripped everything out and i'm down to one bucket seat and its a lot quicker off the line once its moving there is not a lot in it. only thing thats left for me to take out is the dash.
