My ph1 had a tiny hole in the main coolant pipe and the coolant used to spirt out under pressure. you couldn't find it when the engine was not running.
Its untidy but its just one of those jobs that i can't be arsed doing.
Samsung 42inch plasma
Marantz amp
Jbl balboa 30 floorstanders
Acer mulimedia pc
an old xbox
I've always wanted an mx5 but it'd have to be turbod as i couldn't cope with the lack of out right pace when roads open up. I can imagine it being great fun on smaller roads even with standard power.
Not really any different to buying these stupid custom 100mm springs they end up too short for dampers as well so you may as well just save yourself a fortune.
If you are looking at an engine £500 if you fit it yourself. If you find someone stupid like me you may get an engine cheaper. I sold a mint one with cambelt done etc for £400
It'll handle better on michelin exalto pe2s or goodyear eagle f1s. i personally prefer the f1s as they give you more of an idea whats going on. My mate had toyos on his 172 and it used to just slip and slide everywhere.
eibach springs are a good cheap upgrade too.
Re: The PH1 172 Aprreciation Thread.

Its a sad sight :(
Good on her for trying :) you never know it might be the start of her getting into stuff like that. My mates mrs is building her own xe corsa with some of his help.

Even a decent set of coilovers would need loads of time getting setup maybe messing with spring rates and damper setings to get a ride like the trophy setup.
That looks good:) I'm going to have to go to 18's on mine as i'm going to fit the 345mm vxr disks and callipers on mine i really wanted to keep the 17's but the brakes just won't fit underneath.
From reading up on the konis you can adjustthe damping while still on the car. They say the softest setting is 25% stiffer but tillitry them for my self i can't really say. my mate had some on another make of car and they were great he used to run them on hardest and even then they were not...
I'm going koni sport dampers and eibach sportlines as my car is solely used for country lanes. Any lower than say 30mm would hamper progress anyway especially on jumps and sudden compressions in the road as you'd risk hitting the sump or taking the front bumper off.
I'm really starting to want a 197 now they looks so good:) I'm hoping to get across to the italian lakes in the next few months i can't wait to drive some of the roads over there.
