"I came into the pits at the end of lap 9, very quickly and struggled to slow down before the speed limit line"
I was watching near dear leap....and saw you lock up massively going into the pits - I thought you'd binned it! Great stuff.
What upset me most was seeing a Rover lead the pack...
take the auxilliary belt off and start it - see if the noise goes away. This will help you narrow the problem down.
You can also turn the accessories (water pump, power steering, alternator etc) by hand to see if any of them feel stiff or rough.
...saying that, Im not 100% sure of the water...
NWP changed my cambelt and dephaser recently and my car gained a noticeable amount of power (172 Cup). Clearly, the previous garage hadn't timed it up correctly. Definately worth the trip to NWP, fair prices too.
This is the problem, devaluation of money and subsequent price inflation fuelled with justification made by comparison.
£20k is lots and lots of money. The reality is that a new RS200 is probably rolling off the production line for £6k - like it or not folks.
(I'll be in the anderson shelter...
Re: Well f**k me!
For £1200 I'd stick my car on a low loader, send it to somewhere reasonable, and have it delivered safely back to my house, and have a shed load of change left over. and some people are mugs.
Re: I dont know what to do - 197 to 200 - advise from long term 197 owners would be g
To be honest, I was was with you until you mentioned the £19k figure
I was looking at an RS200 Cup at Chester Renault not very long ago. They were offering a brand new cup with no options for £13500 ish. How...
One of the salesmen at Chester Renault told me the melting was caused by handcream, and that he would have to knock £450 off the trade-in value of my 172 Cup to allow him to fit a new wheel before he sold it on. Im not being funny, I've never used handcream in my life. Renault simply failed to...
Are you running factory standard spark plugs? I tried running Bosch Super 4 plugs in my 172 Cup and they overloaded the coil, causing it to get hot and actually split!
Theres nothing in the finance agreement, but you are on dodgy ground.
The problem comes if you have a crash. Trackday insurance is available but it comes with a big excess and is often expensive - it's sometimes only worth having if you write the car off - and I dont care how good the trackday...
I've never done a track day but used to race karts, so I kinda miss the track time. I'd like to start doing some.
I can afford the payments on the 200 quite comfortably, I just dont know if if its wise to rope myself in. If I didnt already have the 172 Cup, or if I was paying cash, I'd...
I have a 172Cup with 63k on the clock, which I have owned for the last 3 years. Bog standard with no mods. This is a great car but...
Last weekend I test-drove a Clio RS200 Cup and bloody loved it.
So, the dilemma....
Do I keep the 172 Cup, which I own outright, buy some mental brake pads...
I removed the carbon cannister black box from the drivers side wheel arch today. I connected the two pipes together (airtight) and left the plug connector.
On starting the car the idle seemed eratic. Not massively so, but definately more lumpy than normal. Anyway, Ive put the carbon box back...
Ring up your insurer, tell them that if they can do your insurance for £xxx then you'll take the policy right there and then. I've done this a few times. The sales person at the insurer is on commission, so if they think theres a good chance of a sale then they'll match the price if they can. Be...
Try a company called Langcourt. They specialise in the repair of nicasil plated aluminium cylinders - they acid dip to clean them up prior to processing. Might be worth a phone call.
