Ok I'm a little emabarassed to admit that given the weather recently I havn't felt much like washing my car.
On visiting the Trafford Center today I discovered that a gang of trained monkeys will wash your car for a tenner while you mince around the shops.
Perfect.
Except, when I came back to...
The standard seats are fine, plenty supportive unless you want to run slicks on the track.
The Recaros certainly look the part but £800 on top of the money you are already paying for the standard seats is taking the piss.
Whatever is wrong with it is related to having the discs/pads changed. I wouldn't go looking at the drums just yet.
It's either air in the system or a dodgy master cylinder. Get the lines bled again (maybe by somebody else) and if that fails to sort it, get the master cylinder checked again...
I have an RB Cup too. I wish I'd opted for the GT spoiler now!
I like the standard wheels but opted for the Speedlines because they looked like they stuck out less (think curbing).
You'll notice the engine loosen up after a few hundred miles, but to be honest is pulls well enough low down to...
I have a funny story for you.
Original deal was this,
200 Cup
No options
£12800 on a pcp at something like £180 a month with a grand down. I was going to pay the extra for speedlines upfront.
I signed the deal for this with Arnold Clark in Warringon and paid a deposit
The next day I get a...
The screewash in my Clio keeps freezing up so I want to buy some decent stuff that wont freeze.
Any suggestions?
Whats the coldest your car has been without the screenwash freezing?
If its going 'knock-knock-knock-knock-knock' then its the drive shaft.
If it just goes 'knock' then its suspension related, something has developed some play and you'll have to track it down.
My 172 Cup used to go knock-knock-knock-knock-knock on mid to full-lock and a new drive shaft cured...
Squeak might be clutch related from what you are saying. Does the noise dissapear if you push the clutch in?
If its clutch related then its probably just the release bearing getting old.
I'm not so much worried about the noise as intrigued to know what it is.
I can make it 'do' the noise by revving in neutral past 5000rpm and release the throttle suddenly - you get an odd noise that just sounds out of place. Doesnt happen when you let the car roll on at low speeds no.
Reve...
I picked up my new 200 Cup about a month ago. Since completing the running in period I have found that the car makes a funny noise when I change gear above 5000rpm.
Its hard to describe but its kind of like something keeps spinning when the revs drop, a bit like spinning something around a...
I am looking for a set of plain black protective seat covers for the standard seats in my 200 Cup. I have had a look on ebay and have done a google search but I don't want to buy something that is shoddy or doesn't fit well.
Any suggestions?
The 200 feels to me like it has more low down torque, be it down to gearing or engine output. I'd be suprised if a good 172 Cup puts out 150bhp at the wheels anyway.
(can of worms now fully opened)
I picked up my 200 Cup just over a week ago. As for running in, I was told "not to thrash it" until 600 miles. So I just havn't gone looking for the rev limiter yet. Being too gentle doesn't seem to do a new engine much good anyway, not that they need much running in.
The car is blindingly...
If this was mine I'd do the following:
Fat 14" steel wheels, in black, with decent-ish rubber, like Yokohama Parads (mainly because the tread pattern looks race)
Lower the car lots to suit the wheels
Fit the noisiest most squeal-prone brake pads I could get my hands on (so that it sounds race...
I put Bosch Super-4's in my 172 Cup (cant remember the exact plug code) and they were wrong and killed the ignition coil. I'm not sure why tho....does anybody know?
Mintex 1155 - I can't 'make' them fade, they performed well on a trackday and feel good from cold so fine for road use.
Braided lines make the brake pedal feel firmer, not essential but definately improve brake feel.
Actualy looks like this is going to be a good engine. I like the use of a camchain rather than a belt - no more costly cambelt changes. Beehive springs and DLC Coated buckets are also interesting changes. The cam-phasers seem to work the same as the renault ones - using vanes and oil pressure to...
Ordered an RB 200 Cup, black Speedlines, no other options.
Actually didnt like the recaro's much, wasn't impressed with the quality of them. For £800 I'll put some proper seats in at a later date.
