Nice change to see a decent original e36 not driven by a Kossovan with a Halfords spoiler on it. Had an e36 compact as my first car and always fancied a coupe. Always tempted when im over at auction but theyre too thirsty for me to run about in really.
wayyyy too much red. Needs standard grills and standard side mouldings. Although i think silver handles wouldn't have gone well on the red so probs a good call on colour coding them.
a severely seized one could theoretically. but you would know if a shock was that seized as the suspension wouldn't move on that corner whatsoever. Clios do tend to lean to one side slightly though.
i would definitely re-bleed, see if it makes any difference. usually air makes them spongy rather than hard. just make sure you give the brake pedal a good push after starting the ignition.
from a decent motorfactors 7 quid should get you a huge tin.(which should last forever), halfords do the big tins but they're pretty expensive from there. they also do a tube, only small for about 3 quid.
apply a smear to where the caliper parts meet the back of the pads, and a small amount...
yeh just don't let it near the engine cover as it will go into the coils. and steer clear of the fusebox. THen once your all done i just spray AG Viynl and rubber care all over, leave a few mins then wipe over with a rag. Stops metal getting oxidized and leaves all plastics black and protected.
i would go and see renault about the vanity mirrors see if its on the spec sheet, see if you can get yourself one of those grills for free ;)
car looks great, nothing like the smell of a new car.
Not just surface rust on the calipers? most pads need a little heat to be effective i usually find, but usually find even from very cold to have a good degree of stopping power.
have you checked how much difference it will make? 3 points sometimes makes little difference, particularly when they have nearly expired, or is it 6 points?
More like the ball joint, easy enough to do and check, if you want it checking ill do it for you only takes a couple of mins. And if you want it fitting its 30 min job really, very straightforward.
They make a grinding noise when theyre fudged sometimes. Theyre mega money from a dealer, but there are some on ebay or alternatively a breaker.
Im having mine done on my puma runaround at the moment.
Ive got a pair of driveshafts (30 day warranty)
Balljoints are dealer only part, they come only complete with the lower arms. Around 45 each if i recall correctly.
Is the noise a constant clicking/knocking when moving on full lock?
