Just had mine serviced (1.2) and cost me £155 - seemed a bit steep at the time considering its mostly an oil change and fluid top-up. £212 is a joke, I would rather do what admob suggests and find a local garage thatll use Renault parts to keep the warrenty valid.
For anyone whos interested - UKTV People (Sky 566) is showing back-to-back episodes of Top Gear all day, with the 182 Review episode on at 2pm this afternoon (and again at midnight).
My first post of 2005 - Happy New Year Cliosporters!!

Loving all the boot-builds on here - especially MrGs, red boots look sweet as fook.
My previous car was a Mk1 1.2 8v too, the newer car feels slower and heavier. It didnt matter to me at the time of buying - but now have outgrown it, fancy something extreme opposite to it now, like a sportsbike.
Havent ever driven a Modus, it cant be that bad cos its a new car - but given the choice I would go for something in the class above, probably a Focus or a Megane. More comfortable and space in the back for 3.

There is always talk about the quickest Clios, but there aint no chance of my car being nominated - so for the other end of the scale - post up your slow cars specs (if only to make me feel better, my car is sh*t-slow but there must be other people feeling my misery when they try overtaking...
You will have better ride quality with new shocks, but they are not essential. There are loads of people on here with 60mm drop with just springs (me included, 2002 1.2). Your old shocks will wear out faster if you drop it, but even then you can still get years out of them.

When my car had its door bent back by theiving scumbags, Karl Vella was recommended by the insurance company, I used the one in Skelmersdale, but have seen them all over the NW. That was over a year ago and you still cant tell where the work was done. Not sure of price though, insurance sorted...
Last 2 tanks of fuel (£38), first got 48mpg driving like a doddering old fart for the best part of a month, got it down to around 42mpg by giving my little lawnmower engine a kicking to the dizzy hights of my 6k red line. Id gladly give up half my mpg for twice the power - no, wait there...
I dont think itd look that bad if it wasnt an ugly shade of yellow and had some decent wheels on:

Do a search for 2005 Clio, there has been quite a few threads with pictures in the last 6 months.
If I remember right, the rubber grommet for the bonnet release cable is larger on the inside of the car than it is in the engine bay, it is easier pulling it off :o from the inside, under the glove box:

I tested my car the other week, had a small petty can in the boot with enough in to get me home. Drove the car for 3 days with the warning light on and finally run out of petrol after 51 miles.

This is my 4th Renault, first 3 were not too reliable - but I still keep going back for more punishment. Comparing to other cars in their class Renaults seem better equiped and better looking to me.
I bought mine because it was the best looking, best equiped and one of the cheapest small cars...
