Yes, I was under the impression the ast's work fine with even totally stock suspension- you just need to specify your setup when ordering?
(A friend has just ordered them for his ph1 172 from the uk and he's got stock suspension.)
Try getting one of those two piece clamps for the rear cat join (they're on Ebay UK.) Makes it a lot easier to seal it properly.
Have you checked the front heat shields to see if they're touching the headers under load? That was a noise source on mine at high revs (a bit of heat shield bending...
The problem is if I buy them it will be from overseas- so I won't be able to trial fit them. I doubt any local companies would have them in stock for me to "test" either.
Does anyone know for sure if the Enkei RPF1 in 15x7 ET41 will fit on a 182 Cup ? I found this thread which suggests they won't fit a 182 Trophy :dapprove: http://www.good-win-racing.com/mazda-talk/viewtopic.php?p=9055

RS192, I hate loud systems and the RS192 is excellent IMHO. At steady cruising speeds it's hard to notice any increase in noise over the stock system. It is louder (deeper) at idle and at full throttle but you never get any annoying drone or resonance inside the cabin.
For the wiring- look under your dash on each side and look for the loom coming from each door. You'll need to open up that loom and trace the wires running to the door speakers (use a multimeter.) Once found, cut them and insert the xover (use wires from headunit for input and wires to door for...
Ten years ago I would have agreed, but modern factory headunits have come a long way and there is no longer such a huge sound quality gap. Sadly manufacturers still skimp on speakers and in every vehicle I've owned they're always the weakest link. (The RSC has some of the worst sounding stock...
Well there is, because they are designed to be used without an amp.
From the Focal website (regarding the 130VR):
The good thing is if you do get the urge they can also be driven by a decent amp - they handle 50W nominal power.
I'd rather pay the extra and not have to buy an amp. Less...
I've fitted Focal Polyglass 6.5" V2's in my 182 - but like I said they're not a straight fit. They do sound very impressive and totally different to the stock speakers.
For something that will bolt straight in you'll be looking at 5", I'd recommend start with looking at Focals purely because I...
No it isn't. The stock speakers are absolute rubbish. For someone who is simply after a big improvement in sound quality it's an excellent place to start. Not everyone is after an ear shattering competition system. ;)
If you choose the replacements carefully you will get a lot clearer sound and...
Mine sounds fine throughout the rev range.
No noticeable sound increase inside the cabin at steady throttle cruising (which is nice.) Louder at idle (deep throb), louder when accelerating but not at all boomy when fully floored.
I'd recommend getting one of those two piece exhuast clamps...
6.5" Focal Polyglass V2's (standard depth items- not the slim model) will fit in without cutting the rear water splash guards out. You just need to make a spacer up and reshape the water splash guard a bit with a heat gun. Stock grilles will also fit back on with some small mods.
I've never had anyone flash me with the nightbreakers fitted to my 4WD. I can certainly tell they're a lot brighter by comparing other vehicles lights when they're next to me though.
I just resealed my RS192 with high temp "copper" silicone. Originally I used proper exhaust sealant (white stuff that hardened) and it was useless, I had leaks everywhere and the system sounded crappy. Two weeks later and the silicone is working very well.
This is the one I used- it had the...
Nightbreakers- a lot brighter and whiter. I bought both for my 4WD (to compare them) and gave the Xtremes away because they were yellower and not as bright on high beam (H4 bulb.)
I've got a 330 litre Mont Blanc pod that's a low profile design. I haven't had it on my 182 but reckon it would be a good choice.
Pics below are of it fitted to a Daihatsu Feroza (you'd know it as a "Sportrak").
I think I've fixed my leak. It was the join after the cat and possibly the mid section to tail section join as well. I'd used an exhaust sealer putty that goes hard and it was absolutely useless. I've now used high temp silicone and the noises have gone. I also used a two piece clamp off Ebay...
I had them (many years ago) on a Mondeo ST24 (front only) which was enthusiastically driven on road only. They worked well for me.
Next to no dust and worked well from dead cold.
I think the formulation has changed a few times over the years? They cost a lot in Australia and I'd be buying...
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.... but if you haven't even seen, fitted and heard one then that's a lame comment.
Any "off the shelf" system is bound to suffer similar problems. Some fitting instructions wouldn't go astray, with tips like loosening off the rear exhaust hangers - and not...
