Morning team,
Just had been the rear pads fall out on the sighting laps, could someone let me know what side of the caliper the pad retention/slider bar goes in? Top or bottom for both OS abd NS corners
Currently driving home to get bits with the hope to be out later
Discs are cheap if you are using brembo HC discs. My advice would be get some better brake cooling and clean out the grooves I the pads at the end of each day.
Pfffff RC6.... RC8s are what it's about, we run them all round with slicks. Still trying to get a bit more cooling though, we'll be there soon. Pads aren't the problem though, it's the fluid that gets raped.
Any idea what the cause was? Has anyone had a good look at the bolt fracture surfaces for signs of fatigue? You might be able to spot them with the naked eye, check the bolts and around the flywheel bolt threads first. Pray the fracture face didn't get clatted in the ensuing chaos!
We still have half a horn and a carbon canister, haven't got round to removing it. We grew properly desperate on the brake cooling front, maybe it's just us not being arsed to change fluid every 6 months. Resulted in this monstrosity, ducts feed into wheels. Yet to be tested on track

This often happens on race cars. If you leave it long enough it will stop touching.
I'll be honest if it's as slight as it looks I would just fettle the calipers a tiny bit. It's not ideal but will fix the problem and if done carefully it shouldn't harm them. I've filed corners off AP...
For no scientific reason what so ever I'd be tempted to get the Sachs revalved/shimmed for track use and give them a whirl.
I guess the no scientific reason bit makes me a hypocrite
They work well, bit of a mid range bench mark above a lot of standard coilovers. To note they are well below cup racer or so I've been told. Having been in a mk3 Cup racer I'd say it was a fair chunk better in the vd department than the phase 1 on AST2s
It is a 2 in 1 knob. They're inverted mono tubes so inside out to give them a relatively high bending stiffness.
They are AST 2s, I think the 1 also only has the single knob only it has them on the top.
I will only use spacers with a chamfered bolt for bolting to hub and steel inserts for bolting the wheel to. Threads are massive stress raisers as are counter bored cap heads. I know in the scheme of things they are massively over engineered but I'm paranoid and believe in good engineering...
Because legislation is much more lax if they write that. Same reason most pads aren't for road use, even if better than road counterparts. It will be fine, I've gad sone in my car for a year and a half
