I realise that the general advice is to have an alarm system installed by an expert, but is it easy enough to add your own upgrades like proximity sensors
and tilt sensors? Is it just a case of securing the upgrade in the appropriate part of the car and running a couple of wires to an 'input...
We seem to be a dying breed, lol. I have a '96 mk1.2, and am determined to make it the best mk1 that ever existed anywhere. The mk1 was a beautiful car, complimented by timeless continental lines and unsurpassed modability.
Of all the places I ask for advice, I'm sorry to say this forum is...
I'll go back to my box when you find the experience to answer a Clio related question helpfully without trying to steamroll it. I can tell you that my eyesight is 20/20 but I would like more light when driving at speeds through Yorkshire country roads. Sorry you find it such a bore, but others...
Well, why read the thread then? If you're too inexperienced to know the answer, probly best just to leave it, eh. Timewasting, thread-ending cretin. (I'm sorry, but these sort of people really get on my goat. If this issue wasn't already a problem to me, I wouldn't post the question).
Thanks to...
I'm glad your friend liked them, but I bought the Philips UltraBright (sposed to be one of the best) and couldn't tell much difference at all after fitting them. There's no way in the world I can drive as fast as I want to at night, and it comes down to the bulbs I'm afraid.
I think if £11 rally bulbs were close to the output of HIDs the market would be somewhat different.
Are there any serious suggestions of how to get very high performance light from the front of an older Clio.
Could you explain to me how the immobiliser works in use?
Is it a microchip in the fob that talks to another microchip that opens / breaks a connection somewhere in the system?! :o
I already have a removeable steering wheel so the immobiliser's just to get cheaper insurance if I'm installing...
Is it possible / how easy is it to do this?
I'm buying a Toad Ai606 alarm and want the installer to make it so that I can open / close all doors with the Toad remote.
What do I need to buy & install before ordering the alarm / fitting? I have a mk1.2, if that makes any difference.
Even though its an old car its starting to look very nickable without an alarm as I add more and more mods. Can an immobiliser be fitted? Is it true that most aftermarket immobilisers on old cars are a waste of time because the ignition can just be pulled out and the wires hot-wired in some way?
Fixed! Thanks guys. Needed a new switch, clean out of water in light unit (where did that come from?!) and a clean of contacts. To answer my own questions from first post:
1. Is the rear fog a #382 12v 21w bulb like the others in the cluster?
Yes
2. Does the rear use a relay like a front...
May well be. Do you mean that they've temporaily stretched and need tightening again (like a guitar string when you first tune), or stretched beyond its capacity and needs replacing?
My other theory along those lines is that it could have something to do with the 'auto-adjust' mechanism in the...
I agreed with everything the lady failed me on, but disagreed with this one. It was only going up 5-6 clicks before, and had lots of reserve.
Now its just worse.
New drums bought + new bearings. > £80 before fitting.: (
Are all drums and bearings (Lucus, Bendix etc) suitable with each other / the rest of brake equipment. What's the score?!
I can't help but think they'd be the same as the similarly priced 'accessory of the year' (AutoExpress) Philips X-trashite I just bought.

Just like a £3 bulb with a tiny extra...
