It's a bit thin, but not too bad.

It is thin when it's cold and that is probably when you have seen it, but that means it flows quicker around the engine when cold to give better protection. The 'general consistency' is not thin except when thin, as it needs to be an SAE40 at 100C or it isn't a 0w-40.

I dont see why it being a bit thinner when cold being a problem. When hot 5w-40 and 0w-40 are the same thickness, SAE40. Cheers Guy

Its ok but 10w-40 is lilely to be a semi synthetic. A 5w-40 synthetic will be much better. Cheers Guy

That's a better choice than the 75w-90

EPX is pretty cheap and chearfull but it will do fine :) You can use 75w-90 but it can lead to a baulky shift when hot due to the higher viscosity. Cheers Guy

All oils mix so no problem topping up with 10w-40 semi. 5w-40 synthetic would be a better choice but as you dont know what is in it then you could just be topping up 10w-40 semi anyway. Cheers Guy
