Today I put my ICE back in my car after getting the 17"s fitted and I was driving along with just one front seat passenger and my rear arches were scrubbing on every bump in the road!!! I cant understand why this is happening cos my cars lowered only 40mm, my wheels are only 7" wide, Ive got the...
Its a matter of enforcement policy rather than a formal rule, but the norm is that you will get away with the speed limit + 10% (to allow for speedo error) + 1 mph (minimum margin for exceeding speed limit). So that means 34 in a 30, 78 in a 70, etc.
Fair enough, it probably is lower then, but just not quite as much as Id thought when I was still running 14"s. I wish someone would release a kit for an 80mm+ drop on the Clio tho, cos it would be so easy to do!! The arches are gigantic!!
Bizarrely, it appears my car actually has less space than Freds under the arches at the back and the front and its officially only lowered 40mm on Apex. They seem to have kept on getting lower over the last 6 months since I had them fitted. I dont know if its a trick of the light or something...
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on some cheap Ground Zero stuff??? Ive got a Hydrogen series amp and Im looking for subs, components, etc. (basically whatever I can find) to make up the rest of my new install. If anyone knows a supplier of this, or if EvilICE can get me good deals on...
Apex is Dutch and its top quality stuff. They use it on a lot of Touring Cars, etc. It has genuine racing pedigree. So Id take it out of category 5!!! And Im not just being biased cos its what Ive got - Im planning on changing to Gaz anyay!!!
Andy mate, that is one sweet mthaf**king car you have! Those rims are ni-ice, it looks just right with the lowering youve gone for and that exhaust is darned phat also! Ill second the motion of respect!
I would go for 60mm springs if I were you, I chose the 40mm Apex for my 1.2 16v and while theyre decent springs, offering good handling and excellent quality, theyre just not low enough for my tastes and Ill probably be going 60mm or coilovers in the next couple of months. I think P-i or Spax...
Looks more like the exact Scorpion Boxer exhaust Ive got to me!!! If it is, have you got the whole system or just backbox? And dramatik_clio, its not just for the 1.2 16v, it will fit most of the range from 98 onwards, except diesel and 172.
Well I do that several times a day (nosing the limiter in every gear!) when Im having my many traffic light grand prix, and my gearbox seems to be still in one piece...! Youve got me worried now tho!
Jonny, I see your car about all the time!!! I asked in the Scottish meet topic about it, you used to have a black kitted 206, am I right? I see your 172 parled outside Glasgow uni quite often.
Cheers. How do you go about checking the tray, is it just a jack up the car and wrench off a nut or two job, or is the procedure more complex?? Also, wheres the diff housing??? (pardon my ignorance here by the way!)
A guy near where I live has a 1999 Clio lowered 85mm on 18s with no arch work... wondering how?
Begins with c....
ends with ...rs! And they only cost him £500. He bought them in France.
You dont get banned but you get your licence revoked. The difference is that unlike a ban you can re-apply immediately but you have to retake your test, and its the extended test - 1 hour long and far more stringent.
Well, it was a £500 excess as well, and my insurance would have been £2k with no NCD so I figured a 30% discount would have been worth £600... then the knock-on effect the following year, etc. and I decided it was worth paying it. Regretted it later when I had another bump two months after and...
Bryony, dont claim till youre 21!! If the other party isnt claiming from your insurers then just say you hit a lamp post or something and that it happened after your 21st!!!! I had very similar damage to mine, needed a new bumper and wing plus some straightening out of the very frint of the...
I bought my Apex springs there but it was mail order so Im afraid I cant advise, I had them fitted by the boys at National on a cash in hand basis!! But SWT did c**k up and send me the wrong springs by mistake, so I personally wouldnt deal with them again.
