Thats pretty cheap for a racing car. Seem to remember reading in CCC that the clio v6 trophy cars cost 28k race prepared by Renault. For that price that is tempting. Would be cool if everyone clubbed together on the forum to buy one for the club which we could all use on track days, if 130...

thrashing the 172s does seem to loosen them up alot, I suppose this is because thats what they are designed for!! The engine can take all those high revs...

Just thought I would let anyone know whos interested in a Cup in Esssex area, Toomey Renault in Basildon have just got their Cup in, so you can go down and have a look, also my Dad has said that all Cups are delayed for delivery due to a minor fault being fixed by Renault on all cars..

I was looking at GT turbos too, but they do seem a tad pricey for a good one. If you buy a shagged one you will have no end of trouble, with new turbos(pricey) and overheating problems, which I believe are a common problem on 5GTTs. We plumped for an XR2 which is easy to fix and cheap as chips...

With out wishing to sound like a boring old tw*t, after seeing numerous crashes around essex, seems to be one every day at the weekend, involving XR2is RS Turbos, Puntos, Corsas etc. It really drives home that street racing is very dangerous. The best place to open your car up is on the track...

One nice car sales man let me test drive a 1998 4litre V8 TVR Chimera the other week, obviously he sat next to me...but I did whizz it around for 40mins, and boy oh boy was that thing quick....I think sales men will only let you test drive their cars if you are genuinely interested in buying...

Bought XR2 mk2, which I have to say was and is in rather good nick. Sorted out some welding and new discs, pads, tyres etc. and is now our track day tool.....not blindingly quick, but good laugh and who cares if we smash it up....unlike my 172!!!
