If its coming from middle of car underneath, behind engine it is likely that it is the exhaust manifold knocking. I had this when I first got the car. You can change the engine mounts but there is a guide on here somewhere on slighty moving the engine on the main OS upper mount. I did this and...
I travelled to the garage at the back of my house and back to get the right tools! That way i knew it was getting done right. That and I'd just had a 500 mile round trip to pick the car up originally! :)
The above link which no longer seems to work is an excellent fix for it. basically involved just putting a bit of rubber hosing round the bar bit that presses in next to the handle when the sunroof is closed. I did thi son my girlfriends sunroof last year and it is yet to creak again! :)

I just put a tie wrap on the bit that sticks out form the car with a rubber washer from a Grolsh bottle pressed against the heatshield and has been on for over a year now.
Has those much nicer looking alloys as well and you can change the Aux belt with two spanners while on a coffee break at work for less than a tenner! :p
I used to have aRaven blue one and of all the cars that I have owned, some a lot quicker the Lupo Gti was the one I found myself taking the long road home most often, great fun.Good choice of wheels - the standard ones are a pain in the arse to clean.
