Think Hill power do uprated dog bone, gearbox link, which helps, valver mounts are sh!t, I changed all three on mine, including expensive Renault only one, and 5-10k later they feel worn already, I am always bitching about them.
134 is best I,ve got, there aint many long staights where I live, but loads of 100mph winding scary B-Roads which is interesting, always loads of youngsters writing cars of all over the shop. At 134 on 16 wheels wasnt too far off limiter, need to raise that, off the clock pic above is classic
Have serviced motor, whilst fitting K-Tec exhaust with de-cat and also have a piperX IK fitted. Car feels much livelier, and also quite noisy. However Has anyone had a similar set up and then fitted a chip, also am I right in that Hill Power will do a chip to suit these mild mods. For anybody...
Ive recently fitted K-Tec 4.5 Slash with a non silenced decat, very loud, cant really hear induction kit, whoever asked that. Weight, did you have hassles getting the big pipe to fit straight on recess in bumper, as mine is off a bit. It doesnt rattle anywhere, and I am loathe to move it about...
Find a 19 16v (quite common in breakers, more so than clio 16v) and hoof the seats and steering wheel out of it, thatll be well cheap and make the car feel much different to drive. Could lower it, if you are into looks, although I think the diesel might have stronger front springs for weight of...
Totally agree, you can never assume that a dealer will do a good job, just cause they are a dealer. The specialists like BBPT and Hill etc have probably worked on more 16v than any dealer in the country, and there is nothing like learning a job by doing a lot of them. God knows when a Reno...
Yeah I am in same boat as Mike100, got KTR system and decat, pipercross ind. kit, also interested in how much chip would cost by sending ecu by post, I would have a three day minimum round trip to pay a visit to hill power so post is only way. Also the induction kit scoop that hillpower sells...
This might sound extreme but you can remove the pads and on the LEADING edge on forward wheel motion, grind a very small camphor, just a small 45 degree angle on edge. This often stops them squeking, and you are talking about a millimetre or two in lost pad area, which aint going to make any...
Wouldnt worry about fluid, youll want to change it for dot 5.1 anyway, Let the fluid piss out, you are defo going to have to do a bleed anyway, its not bad just time consuming, to change the whole lot. The only part I would worry about is brake lines, as they can be a total C&*t to free, and...
I have just finished fitting K-Tec exhaust and decat on my car. It is fine at lower revs but when you open it up, it makes a lot of noise, although it does sound evil. Cruising is certainly louder than standard, but you can hold a conversation and have tunes on at 80+ so it is bearable. But it...
Pretty much definetly worn engine mounts. I changed them on my 16v and gearstick doesnt move about much now (also less clonks and car feels generally tighter for it). They are cheap apart from top right hand one which is reno only, and about 70 odd squid. RT one might be less, but Ive never...
they go into the discs on the back but not at the front, so fire on and you can change your front discs later at your leisure. If the body shop has a bench press they can do it easily, good chance they will, if not run with the hubs to another garage to get it done, two minutes. two things...
The mounts are surprisingly easy to do, I changed all three on my own. Two gearbox ones, a large mount which forms part of battery tray, and a bottom link or dogbone as everybody seems to refer to it. Dog bone is dead simple, large gearbox mount, slightly more involved, but still not to bad. Let...
yeah do the bearings, as they usually need pressed in and out with a hydraulic press, and if you got the hub carrier off anyway, you would be best to do it then, are they making much noise.
a fiver for a litre from reno, rip off, go to any car parts shop and ask for mixable ethylene glycol anti freeze, mix it 50/50 with water and pur it in till max mark (when engine is cool), should be able to get 5 litres (which will do 10 litres mixed) for a fiver or so. Dont let Renault rob you...
Its not as bad as you would imagine. Renewed all three on my valver and it wasnt anywhere as bad as I thought. Get a jack with a piece of wood and take weight of engine mount on that side, sump is sound as its not really the full weight of engine and box going onto it, just use a piece of wood...
These uprated fuel pressure regulators dont work well on valvers, think it can confuse the ECU when it gets madly rich figures from lambda sensor, but a differing picture from throttle position and engine speed etc. Pretty sure they are only worth the effort with other mods, very good chance...
Malice, when you do this you might have to get brake bias valve plumbed in as its quite often a different pressure sent to the rear if its disks rather than drums, this is often due to differing master cylinders between disc and drum rears brakes. Could solve this completely if you take 16v back...
Sounds like a problem with the linkage. Its not uncommon for valvers to jump out of gear, and most often its actually the engine mounts that are causing it, when they are worn. Having said that the boxes do go occasionally but yours doesnt sound like it. Jack it up and get under it and look...
My exhaust and cat are kaput on my 16v, and have order K-tec slash cut stainless with decat. However car is a 94 and am resigned to fact that cat will have to go back on for next mot. Now my mate pranged his dads megane which was an R-plate, but i reckon cat would have survived, although havent...
Speaking of which both my exhaust and car are finished, and have ordered a K-tec one with decat, hopefully here soon. Got the decat cause it was cheaper than getting a new cat. However my valver is a 94 and so will probably need a cat for next MOT which I think is out in august.
Mate...
Got the bushes for rally design, they have a web site, but it is big league sh*t, and you need thier catalogue. There is a copy attached to this months CCC mag so you could get hold og it there or I will look for you if you wish. Fitted uprated drop links last night, but aint been out with car...
