Yeah when you turn all the weights transfered, 99% of the time, if the noise is when turning left, the right hand bearings gone (more force put onto it) and vice versa when you turn right.
Dunno the part number dialogys is too old but they are less than a tenner, 10 minute job to fit aswell.
Its not massively dangerous but its not ideal at all. I wouldn't drive it much if you can help it.
All 3 thanks.
Clearly never driven a 1.6 or a DCI 100. They're near identical standard, apart from the fact ones got a choclate gearbox. However with a remap the 100s a bit of a animal.
Yeah as edde says depends how far you want togo how much you want to spend. If your up for putting better intercooler, injectors, turbo you'd be more like 150bhp, and you'd push sports out the way no trouble.
The main things people on here have done to DCI is either panel filter + remap, or...
Either remove the wiper arms to get the scuttle panel off, or just lift it up carefully without snapping it.
If you are getting the wiper arms off, soak the nuts and the join between the rod and the arm in WD40 the night before. Once the arms are off the rest to get the panel off is simple...
You can replace it pretty easily. Get a new one and get a 13mm nylock nut to go with it. Get it jacked up and on stands, get the wheel off, Pull the arm down, put the centre part in, let the arm go, put the top bush on, slide the bolt throught it, get the jack under the anti roll bar, jack it up...
Yeah the rack end, and track rod end you have to buy separately. I've done a set of rack ends without the tool, used a decent pair of mole grips (the real mc'coy IRWIN vice grip things not the cheap stuff) on proper tight. Loads of room though that was on a Mk2 Golf.
Take the gaitor off and...
Could be a few things as mentioned Tez, get it to a garage, get your cambelt changed as you say, when the belts off they can see the water pump so can eliminate that straight away. Could be a split in a pipe or maybe a stone through the rad.
How much are you topping it up by? how frequently
Its doubtful the loom istelf fails Wolf, Edde means the connections in the block plug - when you replace the sensor just clean them up and tighten them a bit so there is a firm connection.
Yeah they handle better the suspensions stiffer (even more so on the 1.6s/DCIs to take the fatter engines) anything above a 1.2 ie 1.4/1.5d/1.6 has 'sport' suspension aswell. It'll also have sports ratio steering aswell
