I found the Clio very reasonable on the wallet - decent MPG of just under 40, affordable tax and service. I wasn't paying £1400 for insurance though and wouldn't! Simply, not worth it IMO.

Just ignore these losers knowing that there is no contest and enjoy what you have. It's usually the person who is baited into chasing the SXi crew that gets caught!

Can't help you there, although I had a Cup and chose to keep them standard colour when I had them refurbed after considering darkening them.

I sold four anthracite 182 wheels with tyres for £400 on E-bay. Depends on the condition.

Sold the Clio and bought a 3 series. No regrets at all - it was a joy going from the Clio to something that felt so solid. Enjoyed both cars for different reasons.

Disagree. Yes, straight line and in-gear they are quicker but overall, they ain't. And the MkV Golf TDi 170 is easily on pace with a Clio. You've obviously not been in one.

I used to get around 375 in the Cup, close to 400 on a few occasions. While we are on the subject - just managed 460 miles in the Cupra (45 litre tank) and it still had a few litres left upon fill-up!

LOL, indeed. The Cup is just a car like any other. It doesn't make mistakes, the driver does. Pro's - rewarding. Cons - not many IMO. The brakes are not that strong and they are getting older now though, so might need some cash thrown their way.

Nobody can comment on whether the catch failed or was not looked after, without seeing it. It's guess work - Renault tech or not. A replaced catch can't fail...? Whatever.
