I found the easiest way was just to use the rachet to do the first turn then used a screwdriver socket adapter for the rest of it
I can't see your pictures but you will need an inline fuse and connect it straight on to the battery. You will need a ring connector that you can pick up at halfords. This will run down the side straight into the sub.

In regards to te OP, don't get the 'audi' style ones as you can't get them into the lighting case thus making it look dreadful.
You could however put mini styled ones in the lower grill which might look good
If you believe it to be elctrical then you can work around it. Disconnect the HU to isolate that it is the problem. It may be complete coincidence that it has done this and you relate it to the ipod cable as it is new.
In your fuse box there will be one that looks a bit like a plug, replace...
This can be easily rectified by taking the scooter to their face...justice complete.

I don't think it's too bad as I havn't really noticed anything before plugging it in yesterday but normally this reader shows a description of the faults but this time only showed to codes
