Forget economy owning a 197. My computer has me at 23mpg and 25mpg (can't work out which one is which when resetting the trip meter).
Fun miles all the way :race:
Might be worth PMing Seb. He got a spare key for his 197 from Renault as he had lost one just before I bought it.
Hang on, are you saying he is going to come round and nick his old car back ;)
Having spoken to a few Renualt garages including Renault London who has a bodyshop, they do not have the F60 Nimbus paint, nor can they get me any. I told them politely that that is crazy and the guy said that F60 is a universal code and that any paint shop (he suggested Halfords) can make it...
It will feel even better with another 10k miles on it. I remember Steve Sutcliffe (autocar) being asked a question about when an engine is at its best and he replied after 2 years and 20k miles.
As I said earlier, you would never know that my car had done 40k miles if you didn't see the dash.
The house (should) go up in value and the car won't. Feel for you and you will have both the house and the car you want some day :D. Sold my CTR to extend the kitchen and here I am back in another hot hatch. Just took a few years but that's kids adding to the bill.
Is that for the small grilles each side of the lights and is £65 for both grilles delivered?
Let me know if you get a good deal and I might get a pair as well (they would need to post them to me). We could get a discount for buying in bulk ;)
I am loving the car. It still feels tight, the gearbox is slick (I haven't had any third gear problems others have posted) and I don't think that mileage has done the car any harm at all. All the servicing has been done (I'm sure Seb looked after it very well :approve:) and I can't wait for the...
Nov 2006 (Seb's old car). Personally I don't give a sh1t what a RR session would tell me, I go by my gut feeling driving the car. When I used to drive a CTR and went to regular meets, there were cars with air filter, exhaust and remap pushing 220-230bhp that my standard car could still take...
A bit of advice please. I am going to be putting the good stuff in when I next fill up (so this is not about 95 vs 98 ron etc) and live near an Esso garage. Their super is 97 ron and the Shell garage a few miles away has vpower 99ron. On the petrol cap it says 98ron so which do I go for?
On...
Saying that I have only done 2000 miles in it, and great fun they have been too. Anyone else done this sort of mileage in their 197? All the cars for sale seem to have 20k on them.
Personally I don't mind the higher mileage. It means the engine has been properly warmed up and used. Low mileage...
Just to be different, I would supercharge it. The engine develops all its power at the top of the rev range so you want something to help at the bottom. Supercharger = instant power.
Have been in a JRSC charged CTR and it the power was all useable. No point having huge power and then wheel...
I want to take a picture like that of my car but can't coz:
1) the weather is crap
2) the car is dirty
3) don't live in a picture postcard like that
4) did I mention that the weather is crap?
Nimbus is the best colour, but then I am biased. Looks the nuts when clean. I can see the appeal of LY or Red but they are a little flash for my liking. Nimbus makes the car look grown up and shows off its lines well. Looks good in cup form or standard.
As usual, it all depends on what you...
