Had a good look at my car when washing it and I would say that apart from the bonnet, roof, tailgate and possibly the doors, every pannel on a 197 is different from a standard clio.
Considering that most companies use the same body parts and bolt on some extras this is highly impressive of...
I don't think it is leather. It's some synthetic stuff.
Love my 197. Kangaroos when cold (you have to laugh when you look like a tit driving it) but this goes after a minute. Had new steering wheel under warranty and brembos as well as they had seized.
Only complaint is the door rattles...
Think I may have already posted this (or something like it) before.
I am trying to get a paint stick in Nimbus Grey. Renault dealer says that there is no code for that colour and haven't received a response from PMing Matt Black for a code.
Any help appreciated.
First time I have topped up the oil since I bought the car. It was serviced by Renualt so probably has their oil. Halfords don't make their own oil, it is rebranded something else.
I know my car needs 5w 40 fully synthetic and went to Halfrauds to buy a litre to top up my oil. The only 5w 40 was their own brand although they had a very good 0w 40 castrol oil. One of the guys that worked there said that the 0w 40 will be fine (also that the 5w 40 would be as well) and I...
I think they look good even though they are chav wagons. Good engine but poor handling with an intrusive traction control system that you can't turn off.
Try one and see what you think. Also the seats aren't as supportive as they look.
I once had a run with a 182 when I had my CTR and we were into 3 figures before I pulled slowly away. Having driven a 182 and a CTR, the CTR felt much faster.
I don't think you could find 2 more different cars to compare!!! I say it depends on the drivers ability. If the ability is LOW, stay away from the 200sx unless you like going backwards around corners. That doesn't mean the 200sx is a bad car, just that if you have only ever driven FWD cars, you...
I have drilled an E46 M3 and know what you mean. I suppose I am comparing this to other hot hatches etc. The CTR felt faster, and just about any turbo car will as well. This is not a bad thing, just an observation.
Friends said to me before I bought my Clio that it doesn't feel fast but it is, and having driven some fast cars, tend to agree. It is no slouch though and a couple of times recently I have looked at the speedo to find I am going 10-20mph faster than I thought I was :S. Personally I put it down...
Re: RenaultSport Clios - great on the right road, rubbish the rest of the time. Discu
You can't compare the Clio to your Honda. I loved my CTR. My 197 has rattles in both doors (supposed to be better built) kangeroos down the road for the first minute when cold (makes me look a right prat...
Used to own a 220 turbo coupe and apart from the head gasket, the engine is quite reliable. Not too bad on fuel either. I had 5 years of fun with my turbo, and yes it was quick.
Check the condition of the gearbox (assuming it is also from a 220 turbo) as a rebuild can be expensive and find out...
Thanks guys
I can confirm that I don't have auto wipers. Only asked as I had the wipers on (not intermittent) and they missed every 5th wipe  or something like that.
Had auto wipers on my VW Bora and they were great. Never had a problem or needed to switch the wipers on full.
If I take the door cards out and put them back I will have more rattles than I started with, hence although annoying, it is something that I can live with. Just hadn't been able to isolated the rattles before.
Are your instructions for a ph2 or a ph3 clio?
Both my doors have rattles. It's notthe end of the world and only really annoys me when the sterio is off.
Today I noticed that the rattles are only present when the windows are fully shut. I opened both windows an inch and the rattles disappeared.
Any ideas?
When I picked up my car from the dealer for some warranty work, I asked them if they could get me a paint stick to touch up a couple of slight marks. The paint man said that there was no stick for this colour (or the paint code of the car).
Any ideas an how I can get one?
