I have taken the dealer stickers off but the ELF sticker is well stuck (London term there) so I left it. Let me know if you get if off as I would like to remove mine.
I am interested to know if anyone has bought a non-cup CS 200? I love my FF 197 and think that my ability (which is quite reasonable as I have been driving for almost 25 years and have had many fast cars) will run out before the car's on most normal roads.
I read all of Evo's long term tests on the 197 and I would say that this was the single most important read in my decision to by a 197. That doesn't mean I didn't go out and drive one first (which I did) but I do value their opinion, and it is an informed opinion, and I think having owned the...
Not sure if this point has been discussed elsewhere but read the entire article yesterday.
They concluded that the Clio might have scored even higher if it DID NOT have the cup pack!!!!
No brainer.......YES. The 172 will be much more than your 1.4 with mods as long as you can afford it. Why don't you drive one then you will know for sure.
Having owned both (used to own 2004 CTR now a 2006 197) I would say the difference up to 100mph is slight if any. After 100 mph the CTR should ease away. By ease, I mean a few car lengths not disappear into the distance.
To add to the other threads, don't forget the ECU remap and I used to go...
Had a red 197 behind me today and waved for him to pull alongside at some lights. Turns out he is a forum user (Red07dansky) so we pulled over and had a quick chat. He lives just down the road from me.
2 197s in a row looked
Got it back today. I am bedding the brakes in but already they feel progressive and true. Also put my number plate on so happy days:cool:
Will get some pics up soon.
Car went in for brake pads last Saturday and dealer told me the callipers were shagged. Getting a new set under warranty :D
In the meantime, I am driving my mum's 06 phase 3 Clio 1.4 Expression with a panoramic sunroof. Car is really nice with anchors that put my knackered Brembos to shame...
Glad you are enjoying the car. I think that 9.3sec for 0-60 from a 1.6 is very respectable :approve: Clios aren't the fastest cars around (even the RS ones) but they are great fun to drive. That is far more important in our speed taxed country than outright speed.
In this instance 23 mpg suggests something wrong with the car if most other 197 owners return 28-29mpg. I don't have an answer to improving mpg as that is the nature of the car and should be known when you buy it.
I believe you, having read so many threads about this, but struggle to...
Not quite sure about that. My CTR was better mpg than my 197. I think the issue is that the gearing is for performance not economy. Sitting on the motorway in 6th at 80mph = 4,500 rpm. That is going to use fuel. End of really.
Filled my 197 up last week and did 320 miles before petrol light came on (30 miles left). That was a mix of motorway and town driving. Average mpg was around 28mpg.
