    MK2 172 turning cycle

Think bad turning circles ....think Phase 1 1.9 Diesel (My good wifes company carraige). Sounds like a tractor, drives like a tractor, rattles like a tractor and turns like a tractor ! However done 180K+ miles on original suspension and engine. Still going like an argricultural workhorse! Only...

    Strut Brace - Help Needed

The last time I fitted a strut brace was to my past MKII 16V Golf. Cant remember for the life of me what make it was. The fixing was quite clever. You drilled the holes on the turrets to a specific diameter (struts in place) and used the special tool they supplied to press fit a "nutsert" in the...

Should Reno have done a 172 bonnet bulge

A bulge on a 172 bonnet may look a bit naff ....but would be a great way to get cold air into an induction kit!

    MKII 172 Stainless Exhausts ....Again!

Im thinking about replacing the stock exhaust on my Sep 2002 172 with on of these stainless jobbies. I think I have narrowed the selection down to Magnex and K-Tec. On the K-Tec website it shows the twin round tailpipe, but in the text suggests there is another tailpipe available. Any ideas. I...

    cracks in car

Hi viceroy, Those definately look like cracks in the seam sealer under the paint covering the welded joint. Couldnt quite make out which part of the boot/roof body this is from your photo ....a bit too close. Do you have a picture with a wider view? Has the car ever had rear end accident...

    What to Do

No expert in these matters, but what about the letter he signed saying he was happy with the repairs? On a "gentlemans agreement" basis surely your liabilities have been waived since then and you now have the piece of paper with his signature to prove that?

    cracks in car

Sounds to me like cracks in the seams/paint due to normal body flexing. Perhaps the normal flexible sealer has not been applied under the paint on these seams allowing moisture to get into the welds. Then again, the bodywork should be "galavanised". Not sure if the Clio shells are hot dip...

    Justmatz Cliosport Mats

Hi Jas, I think we need your "executive decision" on this one. Otherwise the thread will fizzle out with no conclusion. There will not be one design that will please all. 1) Are you considering introducing these mats as Club Merchadise? 2) If so, using all the previous subject posts as...

    Braking Problem

The following may be a possibility ......If you are getting any vibration during braking you may have a warped or badly seated brake disc reducing the braking efficiency on the affected side. Another possibility is a partially ceased caliper/piston. Generally with either of the above problems...

    Clear side repeaters

Demon Tweeks, Part No: ABCR-300, P112 of their 2002 Tuning & Performance Equip catalogue (-310s are smoked black) These come with the amber bulbs. You have to snip off two of the plastic webs on each repeater ( I used a small pair of electronics lead cutters) to allow them to seat in...

Paddy, is your illustration suggesting an alloy heelpad or is this embroidered. An alloy heelpad would look wicked and compliment the alloy pedals

geordiepaul, I like the pictures you had in your 3:13pm post. No one has mentioned the preferred grade of carpet, ie. Classic, Deluxe or Executive or whether they would like a heelpad? I would probably go for Deluxe grade with integral heelpad

    Oil Change Info for 172’s

At the end of the day Big Bash it is purely down to personal preference. In the past 20 years of motoring I have dismantled several engines (mostly Ford crossflow and essex lumps) that have had "standard/missed" oil changes and other engines that had more changes than normal. The former ones...
