they are close in performance but the 172/182 should have the edge over 60 with more bhp. I remeber seeing a video (may have been top gear) and the 172 was a fair bit quicker in a straight line, i guess it all comes down to whether you get a good or a bad engine and driver ability
I think they are a bit faster than 18secs, ive got autocar who say 17.0 for the 182 and 16.9 for the 172 cup also the 182 cup did 16.7 in the 0-100-0 challenge.
I think overall though it would be neck and neck to about 80 then the St should start to pull away and once over 100 pull away with...
not neccesarily it depends on how conservative the manufacturers figure is also Ford use 0-60 for their figures not 0-62 like most car manufacturers
Evo got the 182 to 60 in 6.6 and autocar in 6.3 also the megane 225's times were quicker than what renault said
Why not upgrade?
A, I dont think it will be as quick
B, I dont think it will handle as well
C, It hasnt got as much kit in it,
D, I would lose a fortune on my 182
Im sure cup owners would agree that A and B are probably the most important things when considering a hot hatch or for them...
Dont see the problem really, its just a discussion and the fact that power to weight ratio is probably the best judge of how a car will perform 0-100 its suprising that renault havent tried to beat the 182 figure.
Most people buy renaultsport clios because they are relatively fast and cheap...
Yeah its down to air resistance and that why higher powered cars come in to their own despite weight. An example would be an M3 about 4.8 sec to 60 so about 1.8 faster than the clio which doesnt sound too much but to 100 its about 5.5 secs faster
I havent got the 172 one, but I have the 182cup
0-60 in 6.49
0-100 in 16.74
0-100-0 in 21.42
Im pretty sure the 182 posted similar times the year before so I cant imagine the 172 is far away from these
I dont think its too bad of a price, considering the free servicing. I would expect that if someone was selling that privately they would want 10k and you have to expect to pay 1k more from a franchised dealer. If your happy with it go for it as at the end of the day its you who is buying it...
Yeah I know this thread was about a 172, but you said the 172 cup was the last true great hot hatch and me personally think the 182 is better all round package
Not really as the 182 with cup packs offers all the toys of the 172, the handling of the 172 cup and virtually the same perofrmance (i think autocar had the 172 cup 0.1 secs faster to 100 and evo had the 182 0.2 secs faster to 100)
I agree the 172 cup is faster than the 172 but I think it...
Not convinced that is true, a 172 cup holds it value no better than a 172
there are less 182 cups than trophys as well, but they wont hold their value better
I think you will notice a difference in terms the 182 has more power and less weight. 182 0-60 is mid 6's. I would imagine the handling is far better in the clio but the build and reliability better in the Seat
That servicing deal looks very good, and when you think about it you will pay £200 for a minor (12k and 24k) and then about £400 @ 36k. These are costs you wont have to pay in the future so in theory discounting the price of the car.
The Trophy is good but its not worth much more than the 182...
