had the odd starter pack go down at work before but its nothing compared to how many 172s were sold. not sure about this 5 year warranty though. they will only be under renault warranty for the normal 3 year period.
its the injection ecu anti tamper cover. the ecu on the 1.2 16v is screwed into the rear of the inlet manifold. the cover should be secure and not rattle around.
braking is normally around 60% fronts and 40% rears but with new abs systems the set rule for distribution front/rear isnt really applicable anymore on some vehicles.
could be a number of things but without actually hearing it then its hard to say. the engine/gearbox has 3 mounts so it could be any of them. isnt there any local mechanics you know who could have a quick listen to see what they say.
i waited until i did my mates just to see how hard they are but there ok. think i will get some now. they were apex springs when they arrived from k-tec.
fitted a set of these the other week to my mates 172. gave a very noticable drop. they are stiffer than standard but not to the extent that its uncomfortable
well nothing can totally compensate for driver error or sudden eventualities on the road. yes the main part of abs is to stop wheel skid which will allow you to steer/make evassive manuvoures for example.
have they dumped all the original injection system/ingnition system and gone for throttle bodies etc? just wondered as the immobilser would be the main problem if using the original ecu.
if the fuel pump defo works then it must be a blocked pipe. did you bridge out the fuel pump relay connector to check if the pump is working? did you check for a feed and a earth at the actual pump connector?
remove the head and check it with a calibrated straight edge. alternativly there are plenty of firms that will check the head surface(warped etc) and do a leak test for cracks. if he has drove it a long time whilst it was overheating i personally would defo get the head checked.
ive got the oval and its sits flush with the bumper as the above pic. you wouldnt be able to cut the bumper and higher them because there close to the vehicle floor as it is. sounds good though.
