nah... Mathew,
an estimated 2650 lbs with 165 bhp gives a max poss of 14.90
add 8 bhp, and the theoretical goes down to 14.47...
after that its exponential
Joe..

yep, as said, it may well still be a requirement for pistons (and then might as well go forged) if the head is not easily modded.
will see, .. I will try to get some quotes after the Bank hols..
lol Dash .. naw...
Btw, Mathew N Chun...
I must add, this hasnt ruled out the use of forged pistons..
the reason being - IF the 172 head cannot be enlarged - or - the piston bowl cannot be increased - safely.. (the piston could lose a mil, but not sure about the head yet)

Lets not confuse adapt as in ignition curve / knock settings , and adapting to anything else.. the ecu will adjust the timing based on knock for a higher octane fuel.
I cannot tell the difference on a 172 with 92 octane or 98/97 octane..
and, I presume it just feels faster on yours Brun...
vr6 man,,
yes it certainly can apply to all fuel injected cars.. especially the later ones that have to be more fuel efficient and emissions efficient.
safest way is to have it rr tested and exhaust gas analysis done at full bore.
re superchips etc, they tend to increase the fueling at...

Mathew, Chun and anyone else interested.
Ok, I have been researching pistons and suitability for the turbo application (F4R 172 engine)
these are my conclusions at the moment.
Stock turbo pistons are 9.5:1 cr.
Stock turbo pistons are superbly built. They have integrated cast nickel...
