the gearbox has a drain plug(looks like a engine sump plug)on the underside of the gearbox casing near the diff.remove the plug for a few seconds to get an oil sample.remember to refill it afterwards though.there is a platic filler plug on the front of the gearbox(looks like a wing nut).top up...
not much and there pretty easy to fit.they are held in from behind the bumper by a nut.you will need to pull off the bumper slightly so you can get on the nut with a socket.
if your fitting an ik kit just take the air filter top of as most filters just bolt on here.undo two 10m bolts at the top and unhook it from the bottem.the air pipe just pulls off.
its ok to a point but if your going further than just the ik and exhaust you would need to look into chips etc.ive got a exhaust and ik on mine and its fine.going for the modified inlet manifold next so im going to get a group n ecu at the same time.
the top suspension knock is a design fault with the vehicle.the mod to the turret tops does work and i wouldnt worry about it.what they do sounds worse than it really is.never heard of that wishbone problem before, ill have a look on actis out of interest.roll on the 26th eh.
if the mod directly caused the fault(eg-a poorly mapped ecu caused the engine to run very lean and caused some damage) then that claim would be void.this is of course if they know the mod is there.a chip that is not visible because its inside the ecu will probably not be found so will not affect...
i suppose it depends on how much you have bent the chassis and the roof.i think an insurance company would probably repair it as new shells arent that much.
ah yes on older renaults tdc sensors used to fail all the time(espicially when they got hot).used to get a lot of bent flywheels on the autos as well.old espace how horrible.changed a few auto boxes on the v6,what an arse of a job.in fact most jobs on any old espace was a pain in the arse.
the fact that the ecu erases the fault once its running is a software issue/mistake as the computer should memorise all faults until we erase them.have had this at work a few times that where i have noticed it,only on tdc sensors though never noticed it on anything else.another point is if you...
you bleed it up using the bleed screws.close the screws and then run it with the expansion bottle cap off until it starts getting hot to allow any air bubbles to escape.refit the cap and then run it until the fan cuts in.
its very easy to bend the hub if you apply pressure in the wrong place. dont know what you mean by a sender unit.the abs system has 4 wheel sensors, computer and the pump/hydraulic block.if its £800 they must mean the computer/hydraulic block(these sometimes come as one).
my mates starter moter went weak with its age.there was plenty of voltage to it but it wouldnt turn the engine over fast enough.he got a recon one for about £60 though so not to pricey.
there is a tech note regarding poor cold start on 172s.the repair is new injection software see your local dealer.a tdc sensor fault would normally cause a complete non start and wouldnt cause a rough start.the pain with tdc sensors is that if they fault the computer will register a fault but...
normally its the calipers with the slide type arrangement pad setup that seize up.the bolt on type are a lot better.check the condition of the rubbers that cover up the caliper slides, water ingress and the resulting corrosion can cause the calipers to seize.you can unseize them but you might...
there will be a bleed screw on the radiator and sometimes one on the matrix hose.open these when you refill it to allow air to escape and then tighten them back up when coolant comes out of them.
maybe there was a build up of rust on the disc which has now coated the pad when you applied the brake.give them a week to make sure theyve properley cleaned themselves up and if there still not right then make sure that none of the brakes are binding and all the pads/discs are not worn+in good...
the newer models seem to wear pads a lot quicker than old cars.have done a few cars at work where the rear pads are more worn than the front with no faults with the calipers.the rear discs get more corroded because they do a lot less work than the fronts.the rear pads are easy enough to change...
as above and have you touched the throttle potentiometer? check all manifold hoses are refitted(breather pipes etc) and the condition of the map sensor+its connector.
glad its getting sorted jon_r.changed shockers before for noises but never on a 172 yet.changing the front wishbones is something i havent done on a 172 yet either.there is a ots for front wishbones on clio 2 phase 2 but never had a 172 where it applied.think you were unlucky on both faults...
