on the front i use the subframe(protect it with some wood though) or the inner chassis rail.you could also use the chassis section that goes from the sill to the inner chassis rail (at the front just behind the wheel arch).at the rear use the axle mounting points.
the rubber seals and the slides are avaliable in a kit if the slides are heavily corroded and wont clean up.the slide rubbers are also avaliable separatly as well if thats all you need.normally the rubbers perish and lets water in.the water creates corrosion and the slides seize.
you could just tap a pressure gauge in the fuel lines and just adjust it to increase the pressure above standard slightly. standard fuel pressure is approx 3 1/2 bars.tweek it up 1/2 a bar and see how it goes.
theyve had problems with coils since the new generation 16v engine came out.the new coils have also been known to fail.new coils on 1.4 and 1.6 have grey tops.new coils for 1.8 and 2.0 are black like the originals.it seems to be the 1.4 and 1.6 engines that have the most coil problems.
if the rocker cover gasket leaks it can leak into the plug holes.if its only the one near the filler cap its probably where people have spilt oil in the past.
a large unit bolted at the back of the engine bay near the gearbox.it has a lot of thin metal pipes attached to it and a wiring loom going to it.also if its got abs then the warning light should appear for 2 seconds when the ing is first switched on.

cars are in the order i owned them and the ones that have been on the road.had a mk2 escort van with a rs turbo...
a lot of the normal clios had the bolt on type of pads as well.in fact the bolt on were a lot more commen.if you look around breakers yards and look at all clio models of around your year you will find the calipers you need.
the renault mod only applies to mk2 172s never done it on a mk1 172.try greasing the outer anti roll bar bushes.have had a few where the bushes have gone dry and make creaking noises.
renault produce cats etc for their racing parts.these parts arent obtainable through the uk dealer network.the k-tec cat should do the same thing though.
as soon as a car visits a dealer any recalls/ots that are relevant will show up on the computer.only the serious problems are recalled by letters.the other problems are done as and when the cars visit dealers.
its the front suspension angles and the amount of flex in the shocker top bushes that is the root cause of the problem.no knew solutions have been released by renault yet.
a decat will probably cause it to fail an emissions test espicially on newer model as the emission limits are a lot tighter.you may need to remove for the mot.police sometimes set up check points as dudelove was saying and they could check the emissions.you will most likely recieve a police...
