Which basically means you're clutching at straws. You'd be lucky if that lot weighed as much as a bag of sugar (not pointing the finger but people seem to be a bit unsure how heavy a kilo is)..;)
I've no doubt the 172 Cup is lighter... I'm not denying that.... I've driven one and it's...
How can the glass be so much thinner as to shed a few kilos!! It can't be that much thinner - It doesn't weigh a great deal in the first place. As I said, i believe a lot of it is hype. And whats ABS? four sensors?
I realised the AC is a resonoble chunk of it - Compressor, pipework etc Although there is a certain Cup owner on here who swears blind that the CC on his cup makes no difference as he never turns it on. I asked him if he took it off the car before he went out in it and disconnected the extra...
I've seen that list and i've always wondered where exactly the 89kg comes from.... The wheels save a few kgs, headrests a kg, setbelt parts maybe a kg, engine cover a few grams, no spare about 10kg.... Things like no xenon and all the auto features are more to do with cost than weight saving...
Yes, but I was disagreeing with the statement you made that it makes no tangible difference when you don't appear to have any first hand experience. I have - The maxogen made a difference over an OE airbox with a panel filter.
No doubt the difference in power is not proportional to the...
At a guess, on it's own, f**k all. Nothing you'd notice at least.
I can see two points why people change it
A) Because they come in pretty colours and look nice.
B) As part of a whole new induction system.
Well I disagree. My car isn't as good bottom end without the Maxogen (and ECU/remap btw - pointless without imho). Not by miles, but enought to be noticeable. But you pays your moeny you takes your choice. The standard system on the Ph2 172/182 is a compromise of noise/emitions and power. If you...
I so wish I went. I was talking to my missus's mum about it and they said "Oh yes, grandma and grandpa have VIP tickets from a guy that races in the same series as my brother"
Cheers for telling me then.
Pics look good dude. New lens?
Cheapest (and most effective imho) mods for Cup..
Decat
Inlet Manifold
Group N ECU/Rsport
Chris n Nics, neil 182Cup have done 14.0/14.1 standing 1/4 mile with the above mods.
I was talking to Nick about your car yesterday mate... Sounds impressive!!
Oh and Edde - He's figured it out alright, but he's not about to tell anyone how he did it! Even the guy he deals with at Renault was asking him how he did the wiring!
Personally, I'd trust Nick Hill to work on my...
There was a guy on here with a fully blueprinted 1.6 with gas flowed head etc decat/IK and an ECU remap that made 144 bhp.... So I hope you've got a few mods.....
Agreed.
I don't think any one of the Clio's are miles better than the other. They just suite different tastes and satisfy slightly different criteria/budgets.
If you are interested in going fast round a track (or private road of course ;) ) then get a Cup. Although it's marginal, they are...
I often think the same. I get a bit embarrassed hwne people turn round when they hear my car......but then I think f**k what everyone else thinks - I did it for power gains not to impress other people.... And my car drives soo much better than it did standard.
I don't think it's a case of right or wrong... they give a (sometimes collective) opinion.
It's better than reading the Sun in the bogs at work though so I'll keep buying it. lol.
Basically the idea is that you snap the little locating pieces on the part that covers the oil filler cap every time you take it off and have to buy a whole new cover from renault at their extortionate prices....
.... or maybe that's just me. lol :o
Yup. Mainly because I'm tight and want to get my moneys worth. I love the cars and the locations in which they drive them.
I can't say either way whether they're accurate or not..... I drive more like Richard Whitely than Richard Burns.... but they seem to have most people convinced.
I do...
