Re: Complaint to Renault
Excellent letter mate, although probably too intelligent for the Renault monkeys and they'll think you're some mentalist talking about when you personally went to Renault to get fixed on several occasions:
"Dear Ally,
We regret to inform you that we are a car...
Tbh I wouldn't spend that much on a car that I'd realistically be looking to change in a year or so, and which the depreciation will be crippling.
I'd recommend getting either a better car for the money (relatively new Golf, for example) or a cheaper car and saving some of the money. There are...
Nah, not as far as weight reduction's concerned, but I've got a new polished fuel rail guard to fit, so need to remove the cover in order to do this.
I may then set about polishing certain parts of the manifold up as well... and maybe spraying the engine cover...
You can buy brake pads that don't give off as much dust mate, although they aren't as efficient as stopping AFAIK. Learn to live with it, or just coast to a stop at every junction...
Cool, cheers. :)
Got my old man bringing his Torx set in so will have a go with them, it just seems that the Renault provided piece doesn't sit far enough into the hole of the screw to get leverage.
As for the guard, as I thought so will investigate...
Using the useless tool that Renault provided, I can get the front 2 screws out, but not the back two...
Do people manage with the Renault-provided tool or have they got separate 'screw' drivers to do the job?
Also, the fuel rail guard, how's that come off? :S
I'd imagine that the car doesn't run too well on the dregs because it also feeds through all the dirt and impurities that sink to the bottom of the tank.
Always worth test driving before buying, but as said, get into some back lanes and B roads and give it hell: it's where it's best appreciated!
The car's not good for torque but some simple mods and a remap will even it out somewhat...
All looks pretty good mate, I'd be tempted to go for a different spray wax, maybe the Optimum Spray Wax (from motorgeek.co.uk).
Also, I'm a big fan of Autosol metal polish, so not sure what the Megs is like.
It's worth saying that make sure you're buying only what you need, as it's very easy...
If it's an 03 plate and they've lost the log book then I'd be tempted to walk away anyway mate. Future resale value will be affected if nothing else.
I'd at least talk to the manager of the dealership about cancelling and see what they throw in to keep you...
Megs shampoo over AG anyday... Don't know about the Prima or Turtle Wax, but I'd bet on the Prima.
Everything else is fine. You shouldn't need to use hot rims every time though, once to clean them off, then polish and wax with the AG range and they should only need shampoo in future.
I'd...
Yeah fine, along with the supplied QD or anything you may already have. For blue, Natty's Blue Carnuba is highly recommended, or Pinnacle Souveran. I haven't tried XXX but that's obviously highly recommended too.
All done and looking better for it. Can definitely notice I haven't topped up the wax recently though, poor run-off, dirt marks harder to wash off and even drying wasn't as easy. Think I'll have to get some more layers on there soon...
Rotaries are very hard to use without making the paintwork look worse unless you're very practised. Your best bet is a PC polisher which mimmicks natural hand movement (Random orbital) and so is harder to make mistakes with.
As for clay, any light cut clay bar will do the trick and I...
Normally once a week, haven't washed it for about a month now though, she's been neglected because my folks are re-doing the front of their house so my washing spot is currently unavailable!
 Think of the interest you're paying on that lot! It's all well saying "sod it, I'll sort it later" but that debt will take some serious work to get under control.
I've got about £200 on my credit card, which I'm happy to pay the negligable interest on, but I won't use it again until...
You're better off having 2 stages if you have the time, 1 to seal and then a Carnuba-based wax to improve shine, gloss, etc but with little protection.
I've used NXT for a while, topped off with P21 and I like the results.
