So first trackday on the DS2500s and overall I was very impressed. Locked up a couple of times which was nice ;). For those who don't know its the usual setup, with HC discs, lines and dot 4 super.
Anyway, when I was starting to push the car more towards the end of the day by about the 5th...
who says stiffer on the rear? If you put what Phil has said into it. If the rear of the car has stiffer damping, then there is less travel and rebound, but the rear end doesn't do much of the work anyway. The fronts need to be softer to absord bumps, and make sure the power is applied correctly...
hmmm, all very confusing but makes sense strangly. Thanks Phil. Still none the wiser as to which coilovers would be the best for track and occassional road use. Bare in mind I would be pushing it spending a grand on them :(.
Saying all that, supercars tend to have little or no body roll what...
would it not be more camber is it was only one edge? Remember due to the country having so many roundabouts and certain edges wear more. Check the drivers one to see the wear on that.
Thought the H&R's were fully adjustable? :S
Yeah I've been hearing quite a bit about the KW V2 setup (around same price as the H&Rs? do they fit cup hubs?). Are they easy to adjust warren?
I wish someone would do a comparison of the setups/limitations etc. I'm going to be looking into some next year, so would like to know what is going to be best.
With H&R being softer, would that mean that they are going to be better for the track? or is that just to do with the springs not...
Fare enough Phil, but stability of car is one of the key things which suspension dictates. If the car is pitching and rolling too much they cornering speeds (in/out) will be compromised no? Obviously driver skill makes alot of difference, but that aside I mean.
That is a bit extreme for sure. I was doing most of mine at 1/250, but tried a few lower. I understand the frustration with it though. Trying to get in focus pics is so annoying. I recon I had a 1 in 5 success rate :(
Don't think that's what he's saying mate. He want so know facts and figures. Which in fareness is something that you might like to know when spending (for some) more than a grand. Sure the lower ride hight and stiffness makes a difference, but damper adjustable kits also have benefits over the...
Ah, wondered if that's what you meant. My view is that the rear end on the 182 is too unstable on a track. Presumably due to ride height at the rear. This is cured by driving style obviously, but compared to the 197 it does struggle with rear balance.
They are for track if i'm getting them. I don't mind them on the r26r tbh. Hard to tell what they will look like until on I guess. Thanks for the photoshop f1team :)
