Easy if you're doing the shocks and brakes at the same time.
Firstly, drain gearbox oil. You need a 30mm socket for the hub nut. Easiest with an impact gun, if not, you need to hold the brakes to undo the hub nut.
Remove shocks, angle hub out, and pull driveshaft out. N/S is the wet side...

When cold, and engine off, it should go into all gears reasonably comfortably.
With what you've said, it sounds like dogbone mount's a bit sloppy, but a gearbox oil change and linkage adjustment are cheap possibilities.
