There's a joint between the skinnier plastic pipe which goes towards the back of the car and the chunkier rubber pipe which joins onto the fuel rail. It's pissing out of the join when under pressure. I've taken it off, and re glued it on, but it's done it again..

Does anyone know of a glue that is not melted by petrol, and that will stick plastic and rubber together..

Braver man than me if you start attempting to make your own mounts! They're going to be under a fair amount of stress. For the sake of £40, I'd stump up and get a Renault one..

The pipe at the front left of the engine bay that goes into the fuel rail? Has a split where it joins. Anyone know the part code? Where does it go at the other end? I'll upload pics later if anyone needs..

Any 1*2 will be fine on a Ph2 172.

Ouch! The only thing missing from the guide was the subframe support arms (under the car) but common sense leads you to those straight away! I found the hardest part was lining up the new gearbox to go in!

For the starter motor on a Ph1 172.. Red wire to the copper nut on top of the motor, spade connector where it goes and black wire earthed to gearbox? Correct way round?

Mine snapped in two parts, too.

That cable's earthed onto the front of the gearbox atm. Next to the wingnut/filler plug. Right place?

Yep. All the sensors were checked. I'm thinking it could be an earthing problem or immob. The fuel pump not priming must indicate something?

Yep. I'm not positive on where they both go though. It was so long since I took 'em off. One is at the back, by the starter motor, and the other I've earthed at the front of the box, to the point where an air con/pas pipe is..

Right then. I've just changed the gearbox in my Ph1 172 and the fecking thing won't start. It's been apart for about six weeks in all, with the battery and everything off. I've put it all together, and tried to start it. The first time, the starter motor clicked, but the starter's not...
