Upper Engine mount

Decided to remove mine off my car to see if was split/worn. There seems to be a split in the rubber, I took some photos of it. Is this knackered and could be the reason I get the knocking noise on hard acceleration?

Also when I removed the under tray I noticed it was really wet under it and there was alot of black gunk everywhere. I know with under tray being attached it'll end up trapping some damp in there but is it normal?

Yeah! That's what I was trying to show in the 3rd pic. There's a fair bit of play in it.

I'll be replacing it anyway at some point.

that bracket with the buffers on it comes off, which might give you a better view of the mount itself:)

Didn't realise that lol. Does it just screw off? I think I've knackered the mount even more when I was putting it back on to be honest as the rubber started twisting as I tightened up the nut.

looks like the "buffer" has been welded on for some reason. very odd. I wouldn't say that much play was bad in honesty, but a fresh mount probably wont hurt

On mine when it was knackered the rubber underneath was clearly torn.

I think the new Renault one I got could be moved fairly easily as you have done in the pics.

I've just fitted uprated ktec ones all round and there is some serious cabin vibe at idle, I wouldn't want it in my daily drive lol.

oh yeah! that does look welded :S

i've the KTEC ones on my daily and think i'm getting away with it; they've probably calmed down a little with the mileage although i've run a daily with uprated mounts before and particularly don't like the OE mounts, so i'm probably making allowances

I've the K-tec uprated top mount fitted in my daily and find it fine. There is added vibration but I've put some rubber between the mount and the chassis which has dampened it down.

That was the one that went on mine; the circular rubber underneath the bolt had torn in half.

There's been a few things I've found on the car that have had a bodge job on them after removing parts off this car. The lambada sensor after the cat had been welded in because who ever fitted it previously had cross threaded it and knackered the thread on it. Obviously I've been replacing the parts but it's becoming annoying now.

The rubber underneath the buffer is definitely split, the pictures don't really show how badly it's split. It'll be getting replaced A.S.A.P.

The one and only reason why I wouldn't go for the uprated K-tec mounts, the car has some obscure and strange noises as it is and to have extra vibrations during idle would drive me mad. Lol

Driving home from work yesterday and I heard a strange noise, then about 2 seconds later I heard something hit the underside of the car. Pulled over and had a look underneath and all around the car (didn't lift up the bonnet).

Anyway got up this morning lifted up the bonnet and noticed the bolt that runs through the centre of the upper engine mount was missing, rather lucky the engine hadn't jumped out the mount really and fortunately my replacement mount arrived via Royal Mail today. Fitted the mount and it's solved my knocking noise problem. :)

Just took mine off for a spot of cleaning, usually they come in 2 parts, mine came in 3 lol, the rubber has completely split in 2.

Whats the cheapest place to get them now? Last one i got from ktec but i'm not paying £70+ again.

I took a punt and bought a 2nd hand off Steve79 off here. Only paid £25 for it.

EuroCarParts are suppose to sell them but when I rang I got told by a dizzy woman they don't sell them but I'm sure they do. Last time I checked k-tec's site they were near £80 including delivery.
