When do you stop? Seriously... when??

Bought a mint ph1 in July 2012 and so far it's been rock solid, all it's cost me was £55 for a new lambda sensor to get it through MOT. I used to own a R5 Turbo... now that was a different story!

    Ph1 172 vs ph2 172 cup

I've owned both.. current ride is a ph1, and back in 2003 I bought a cup new... very similar in performance, just a different flavour really.. nothing much between them to be fair.. prefer the ph1 for more subtle and understated looks more than anything but that's just a personal choice.

Has insurance got cheaper this year?

Last year paid £330 fully comp for my ph1 172 which I thought was expensive... this year it's £180.. (34 with 11yrs ncb, no points/accidents).. Have premiums reduced this year or something?? Nearly half as cheap.

    Scott's Super Clean PH1 172 Project Thread

Re: My PH1 172 Yep true.. but when you consider Phase 1's stopped in 2001, that's at least 12 years old.. so assume half that figure have now been written off, ~700 left... then assume roughly half of those are in a bad way.. ~350 ... that's not a great supply to a population over over 60...

    Scott's Super Clean PH1 172 Project Thread

Re: My PH1 172 I own a mint ph1 too.. I bought it because in my view it's the best / retro of all the cliosports.. plus it's design is almost a bit understated, like not many people instantly know what's under the bonnet.. my view is that just like the R5 Turbos, a mint one will only go UP in...

    The PH1 172 Appreciation Thread.

Here's my mint ph1 with full Renault service history, I feel so lucky to own her! Never skips a beat and drives like a new car despite being 13yrs old :).. She's my daily commuter, love the retro feel.. when she finally gives up I'll probably pay for a full engine rebuild with a turbo...

Phase 1 172 MOT failed, advice please

Ok from what I've been reading, lambda sensors last between 30-50k miles and a low reading would cause the engine to run rich putting CO and HC levels through the roof (which appears to be the case here for me)... Wonder if it's worth splashing £55 on a new sensor then and asking the garage to...
