I'm looking into buying another cage at the moment and have been told that the FIA have changed the rules on dash-dodgers. Not sure what that rule is, but maybe they've been banned. The link you've supplied does say 'new'.
Audi won't stick it on the forecourt, it'd get sold to their trade in buyer who'll usually just take everything they've taken in themselves as a job lot. Staff though will often get first dibs on whats come in.
£3k is a bargain regardless of colour, belts etc. I hate the way members of this...
Rob is there a reason apart from weight for persisting with the K series, or are you past the point of no return with that engine? Surely a Honda engine will give you the grunt you're after? Though I'm assuming that'll stick you in another class?
I'll eventually be painting the cage red as well to tie it all in.
I've read that Vmaxx may be a little soft on track, but look forward to trying them out to see how they go :)
Re: Jon's trackday MK1 172 project thread
Well spotted Sherlock, I'll change it.
Yeah they are VMaxx and a stop gap until budget allows something more suited to the task. It'll be setup properly when the car is finished, though it looks quite low as the back of the car is filled with wheels...
Re: Jon's trackday MK1 172 project thread
Blimey, long time no update.
Not much is happening as all my 'car' money is being used on home and child related stuff at the moment, plus i've not been down south for a length of time since start of June.
Little bit of time this week so thought...
I'd also thoroughly recommend Ren7oaks having used them in the past, but not at that price. Call them back and say it's a cup without aircon. You shouldn't be paying anywhere near that.
Re: Shims on no.2 - Thrust Bearings
I've got a sump gasket downstairs in a separate package, so assume I'm only missing the crank seals then. I'll get some tomorrow. Didn't realise you could order an entire engine set - wish the parts department had volunteered that info! Can you think of...
Re: Shims on no.2 - Thrust Bearings
I'll check again tonight but fairly sure i had. Can compare against the second bottom end I guess.
Wishing I'd bought a complete secondhand engine at the moment tbh, but i'll get there.
Re: Shims on no.2 - Thrust Bearings
Yeah just called Reno and asked, they list loads of sizes from 2.3 upwards. whats confusing me is the width of the bearings i've got are fine, it's just they're clicking backwards and forwards on rotation of the crank? Is that normal?
Also 2 crank seals...
