After dropping off the old seats to their new owner (cheers Jamie) I got home and found dad had spent a few hours already on the car. He'd jacked the car up onto ramps (lol) to start with.
The starter motor was on which i was glad of as it's a b*****d of a job hidden up in between the block...
No Tony, the gearbox was in the car when I got it. Could be a bit of PAS pipe, but i've no reason to believe the pipes have been cut?
Also that pin thing is bugging me, I put all the bolts into the tub it came from and that's still left in there. lol.
Well sort of. Engine is rebuilt and put back in, all connected up etc. I've got a tub of bolts left over but I'm gambling they've come off the other engine, lol.
What's bugging me are these three things:
First up, what the hell is this!
It's the small metal pipe thing on the bottom...
Spent an hour last night beginning to attach it all back up again. Engine was shifted to the correct angle then I reattached the upper and lower gearbox mounts. The top engine mount was loosely put in place. Also sprayed up the last alt bracket from a 172 Cup that enables me to do away with...
That statement is somewhat incorrect. Tables are essential when developing HTML emails that WILL form part of most web designers work schedule.
Sure, learn divs and css - specifically start looking at css 3 and it's uses, but unless you want to be a hardcore front end dev then purely a...
So here follows the Heath Robinson way to fit an engine. All the mechanics out there, please look away, I apologise.
The engine was ready to go back in the car and was on the stand looking pretty. Being a tight arse I didn't get around to hiring an engine crane so a bit of manual labour was...
I know that piece of road very well and know exactly the complex of corners before that straight where the car ended up. Did the car you hit come off better?
Good to see you remaining positive mate, what will be will be and this is why they are called accidents :) Very surprised they're...
It's the same engine, so yes it'll fit. You'll need to swap your upper inlet over as your's will be a cable throttle.
Out of interest how long had you held high revs?
I think mine must be Fred. I'm still confused as to why that spacer didn't fit into the pulley from the cambelt kit, seeing as it was for a ph2, but hey-ho.
Thanks for your help last night, were you still abroad?!
Cheers guy's. As I said it does all seem to have gone together OK and everything lined up. We checked about 3 times!
I've still got no idea what the thing is Reno supplied me with (top pic) I stood there and pointed at the right part on the screen and then that turned up. It didn't slot into...
Hi mate, was going to pm you later about returning the tools to you.
It wasn't too bad tbh, helped enormously by having the engine on a stand. You must have incredible patience! I think it took us just over an hour end to end to get it sorted. Everything appears to line up and we checked and...
Dad and I sorted the cambelt last night and the engine is now all timed up ready to go back in. This wasn't a simple job, god knows why you'd want to do this with the engine in situ, the timing tools have to go on and off two or three times!
