No way i'd spend £15k on that. All show no go, whats the point? Could have an actual FRS for £5k more.
Say what you like about mpg, for the depreciation it will have it would be cheaper to have the 25mpg FRS.
To be fair it will be a reasonably well sorted car with those mods. Should handle nicely on the AP's and the IC and map will give it a reasonable amount of punch. A IC and map on these gives a 25-30bhp increase, thats all you get from ITB's usually on an F4R.
Uncle has a Na one, from new in 2004 never one thing wrong. Not anywhere near as much of a hot hatch as my 172 but for a person who likes cars with low running costs and a bit of pace, can not argue!
After having a 172 and a mate having a Focus ST170 i'd be going for the 172. The Focus is a nice car but never felt special or fast enough for a hot hatch. It just felt very family car like.
Great upgrade. R27's are fantastic. Enjoy it and don't go mad at first, but in reality I went from a 1.2 to ph1 172 and the 172 is no more difficult to drive. Its a lot faster but with a linear power delivery, better handling and brakes it never felt difficult to drive or like it was going to...
To be fair I wouldn't be overly concerned about the flat spot at 2.5K rpm. If your accelerating hard you'd be over that anyway.
The exhaust sounds great.
Thats very true. My dad got 50k out of a set of fronts on his MK5 Fiesta. The rears are still on it from the factory which is like 6 years and about 60K. He drives like a fairy everywhere though so they last literally forever.
On a side note I really miss the mpg of my 172. The bloody mx5 is doing around 30mpg mixed driving, although little town, over like 800 miles. To be fair its taken me 2 months to do those 800 miles so mpg isnt really an issue.
My 172 was good for 44mpg on the motorway no problem. Got 45.4 at a...
I've had mates jump on the bonnet of my car and i've just drove with them on. Its a tad dangerous but so are many things we do in life. I didn't go to the extents of the lads in the film though, looked like it was gonna roll at one point.
I used to get 44mpg at 70 mph and 40mpg at 80 mph. On a really long run between 70-80mph with the odd bust of acceleration etc I could still get about 44mpg.
I loved the sportlines on my ph1 172, sharpened up the handling a lot imo. Seemed to reduce the body roll a lot so gave more confidence if nothing else.
Think they remap to about 120bhp and 250nm. Supposed to drive really well mapped. Its a shame they didn't get the 110bhp bhp version of the engine as standard.
